Church of the Ascension is an Episcopal Church and follows the traditions and procedures of the Episcopal Faith. My family attended the Ascension while I was growing up. There are many people who remember my parents and our family. I like to stay in touch. The Ascension church has a unique feature. The Bell Tower is a separate building structure. Inside the Bell Tower is a winding staircase that leads to the top where the church Bell organ is located. When I was in 7th grade, the church music director took our class up the winding staircase to the room at the top and he played the organ which plays the bells. Now the bells can be played via switches located in the main church. After 20 years on sabbatical, the church tower bells have been revived and now, Noah, one of only two Carillon players in the region, climbs the winding spiral staircase up to the organ like Carillon and plays the instrument, with songs he knows by heart, or plays by reading the music in the church hymnal. I had the privilege of climbing that winding spiral staircase myself to watch and listen to Noah playing with fascinating dedication.
Just a beautiful church and a beautiful sermon. I recommend this highly
