Rocky River Reservation

Absolutely beautiful this time of year! Yellow blooming ground cover throughout treed areas. Many scenic paths along the road and the river. Bring toilet paper along for outhouses. Drive through park is quite long. Many parking lots throughout with a variety of paths.

All of Cleveland MetroParks are amazing but the Rocky River Reservation is definitely my favorite. There's so much to see and do. So many great paths. So many amazing areas and even lots of beauty just to drive through. If you're up for a good, healthy walk, park at the Nature Center and go on the path behind it. When you reach the top of the large steps, the view is breathtaking.

You'll see that this beautiful reservation nestled in the woods and hills of N. Olmsted has some of the most gorgeous views of the Rocky River. People go to hike, site see, fish, and just stop in to get some fresh air. Climb those 137 stairs to get your heart pumping and follow the trails that are nicely laid out. The wetlands are home to many animals that you'll spot. Normally the nature center is open to the public and we miss it. My kids love the balcony, bird watching with binoculars, the giant tree stump playhouse, the puppets, checkers, taxidermy animals, gift shop, live aquatic animals and the prehistoric fish and turtle shell for the photo ops. It's fun for everyone.

Easily my favorite metro parks within the area. Been coming since I was a little kid.

Highly recommend the Fort Hill Stairs! You want an amazing leg work out? Say no more! Over 150 stairs to the top with views well worth the effort!

In the snow or the sunshine, this is a beautiful park to see. It is a popular park so while it's nice to have paved trails, it can get crowded. Parking is limited and on a first-come-first-serve basis. Make sure to wear good hiking/walking shoes so that you can explore the side trails too. This park is family friendly and if you have horses, there's trails for them too! Not too far from home, we will definitely go again.
