“I'm writing from the perspective of someone entirely new to yoga. Aside from having watched a DVD or two & of course the wise teachings of Jedi Master Yoda in The Empire Strikes Back, I'd never actually practiced. But after years of injuries from running, rowing & other sports, I'd been looking to vary my range of physical activity & in the process, expose myself to something new & engaging. After exploring options online, I settled on Main Street Yoga for a number of reasons. Initially, it was the convenient Over-the-Rhine location, just a short walk from my office downtown. Second, was the number of classes. As a beginner, I still had friends & family who were very much into yoga & I knew the complexity of some of the movements & that I would have a long way to go. I wanted something that I'd feel comfortable & be able to follow along, where I would not feel completely hopeless. Just moderately. And lastly, I wanted something affordable. As I was just getting into it, I had no idea if it was something I'd take to, so I didn't want to spend a fortune. Main Street Yoga offers a number of classes suited for beginners. It's located on the third floor of a space that doubles as an art gallery & benefits from a good bit of natural light. I began attending a series of classes on restorative yoga, because as a beginner, I figured it'd be best to start slowly, with not too much movement, where the focus would likely be on holding the poses & learning to breathe. I'm still doing these classes periodically, as I've found they do help in a number of ways, but I've also moved on to Viyasa Flow, which is considerably more involved. The teachers are patient, attentive & nurturing. They'll ask you if you have any injuries or anything else they might need to be aware of to facilitate your practice. Yes, there's a bit of that "Reach out with your feelings" stuff & I was admittedly disappointed that I will likely never learn to levitate rocks ala Luke Skywalker, but I'm still getting something out of my weekly visits. There's soothing music playing throughout the hour or more you're on the floor. And as other reviewers may note, there's also a considerable sense of community at this studio, that I'm not sure exists at a place where hot power yoga is practiced. I do plan to find out at some point, but I'm still a long way from standing on my head while dripping with sweat. While I don't recall seeing any Groupons, they do have specials for new visitors & their rates seemed comparable to other area studios. For beginners or more advanced yoga enthusiasts, Main Street Yoga is well worth your time.”

“In 2006, I had a terrible car accident that caused me to have a lot of pain. In addition, there were some other things that western medicine couldn’t seem to remedy. I decided to take a chance on acupuncture and I started to look up providers. When I read Dr. Jiang’s credentials, I immediately felt comfortable. Upon my first visit, I realized that his wife and I actually worked for the same company and I would see her at work frequently without knowing her name, also increasing my comfort. The success that I experienced with my treatment made the choice to take my 12 year old to him an obvious decision. I regret that I didn’t think of acupuncture sooner than this year as a means of helping my son's issue that had persisted all of his life. He had a very overactive bladder and slow weight gain. I spent thousands with an endocrinologist for them to tell me that there really wasn’t anything wrong and he would eventually grow out of his problem and “catch up.” After 3 weeks and six treatments of acupuncture, his primary problem is now gone. It was obvious from the first treatment that something immediately changed and I watched the pattern progressively improve with each successive treatment. Currently we are working on his secondary issue, which also has marked improvements. “I have had a bone growth on the exterior of my lower jaw since I was a child. I also had several tori under my tongue (all issues seem to be genetic.) The bone growth started to feel like I had a jaw breaker in my mouth, and I could even see it protruding at times. My dentist recommended me to see Dr. Matthew Parker when I began having bleeding and had difficulty brushing the area. He said Dr. Parker was the best in this field, and I never even looked for a second opinion after my consultation. The staff was exceptionally caring and kind, and they reassured me, through my anxiety, that I was in great hands with Dr. Parker. We scheduled the removal of “exostosis” on the right side, with IV sedation 3 months away. With the onset of Covid-19 just a few weeks after my consultation, Dr. Parker began sending out announcements about their safety protocols, with the options of having a question and answer session during the shut down. I immediately knew I had scheduled the right doctor. Incredibly, my surgery was only moved by 1 day, and the office had just installed a bi-polar ionization air purification system for added patient safety. My after surgery care instructions were emailed to me prior to my surgery, and the staff was so helpful to answer my questions. After the exostosis and tori removal, the recovery resembled the same as my wisdom teeth extraction, but not as painful. I had tears of joy in my eyes, as I rubbed my hand down my cheek and that protruding bone was gone, along with the tori under my tongue. As awful as it sounds, it really wasn’t that bad, and I wish I would’ve seen Dr. Parker 10 years prior for this procedure. He did an amazing job with my surgery. I would highly recommend Dr. Parker and his staff for any periodontics that you might need.”
