Went there Ash Wednesday and the following Sunday. Two different priests and they were both great.
I'm a supporter of Catholic Churches, I go to all and other Schools and Churches athletics or sports events.
You could get your brown scapular blessed with the proper Latin prayer if you request it. Usually the priest in this parish are a few of the priest that know the correct prayer to get you enroll.
If Prayer and Solitude is what you seek this is the place. The new church (opened in 1961) designed by Architect Ed Schulte is proving to be a timeless design. Just as fresh today as the day they opened for that first mass.
The attached Priory for Dominican Friars gives this parish a kind of variety not found often.
I was invited to St. Gertrude in 2005 when I was new to Cincinnati (fresh out of college) and was looking for young adult Catholic fellowship. I joined the parish that year. I met my wife here and we were married here in 2010. We’ve raised our family, going to mass each Sunday here. We also have enjoyed serving in the many ministries, especially Marriage Ministry helping others as they prepare for marriage. There is a Eucharistic Adoration chapel where you can spend an hour a week in quiet prayer with our Lord. The priests are very knowledgeable, prepare their homilies well, and sincerely love the Church community through their words and actions. They attend many events, such as a Blessingway to pray over a mom who is nearing the birth of a child. They will attend to the sick, and the dying. They will speak words of Jesus’ love to you in Confession. They will challenge you to live up to your Baptism in Christ. They will preach that God desires you and your happiness, that He indeed loves you and is there for your forgiveness and your healing. This is a wonderful Church where Christ is present and where families can thrive. The parish has both a school and a homeschool community (Divine Mercy Homeschool Co-op) and through these you can form many strong friendships. The youth ministry is also strong. The parish events are planned with discernment and care. St. Gertrude is a Church you can call home.
