They are of the most cautious and thorough art restorers in the field today. His portrait had been mounted to acidic Masonite with glue, and the staff were able carefully remove the canvas from the Masonite, reline the painting, stretch it over a frame, remove the old varnish, revarnish, and infill any loss.
