“★☆☆☆☆ Popularity ★☆☆☆☆ Size/Location ★★★★★ Terrain ★★★★☆ Scenery ★★★★☆ Accessibility ★★★★☆ Amenities ★★★★★ Condition ★★★★★ Safety Date visited: 09/14/2023 A few weeks ago, I had the opportunity to explore Swaim Park, a charming gem nestled within the city of Montgomery. Upon arrival, I was immediately struck by the park's unmistakable identity as a cherished part of the city, thanks to a well-crafted map at the entrance. Finding a suitable parking spot posed no challenge on that particular day, as the medium-sized parking lot had ample availability. However, I couldn't help but wonder if there might be another parking area tucked away somewhere, as I observed a steady stream of individuals arriving to partake in the park's offerings. My journey through Swaim Park commenced along a paved walkway that meandered through its verdant expanse. The trail offered two distinct branches, one of which led me alongside two picturesque ponds that graced the landscape. As I strolled along, the serene waters mirrored the canopy of trees above, creating a harmonious fusion of natural beauty. My gaze was drawn to a charming gazebo perched by the water's edge, promising a sublime vantage point to soak in the idyllic scenery. Regrettably, it was already occupied, a testament to the park's popularity. During my visit, I noticed that the park was relatively tranquil, with only a scattering of fellow park-goers sharing in the peaceful ambiance. However, a lively group of teenagers, or perhaps college students, were engaged in spirited basketball games on the park's court, injecting youthful energy into the serene surroundings. As the day gradually transitioned into evening, more visitors began to arrive. The atmosphere took on a different character, as the fading light and the park's gentle illumination contributed to a sense of enchantment. Overall, I would recommend Swaim Park to all park enthusiasts seeking a serene and picturesque escape. While there may be larger and more grandiose parks in the vicinity, Swaim Park possesses a unique charm, perfect for those seeking a tranquil stroll, leisurely reflection, or a quiet interlude with nature.”

“My little one and I come here at least once a week. We love visiting the pond to see the ducks and turtles. We also enjoy the playground. The new playground is great except we noticed that there has recently been some vandalism which is a shame. (see photos).”

“Really nice, quaint fishing lake. I wish there was something other than rock to walk on (maybe crushed limestone). Other than that I really enjoyed the place!”

“My friend who brought me kayaking says the input to the lake used to be a lot nicer and looked like most of it had washed away, there was very little room to launch from and made landing difficult for. I hope y'all are able to refresh that part soon as it makes launching and landing very difficult. But otherwise, it's absolutely gorgeous there! It was a great place to be a newbie on the water! It looked like a great place for families since there were a bunch on the main dock and shored areas. I can't wait to go back. Honestly 5 stars.”

“A cute hidden little gem to say the least haha. The beginning and end of the trail make you feel like you're not going to be secluded but it fakes you out, you'll be alone. If you're willing to go a little off trail, you'll find the bamboo 😉”

“Rest Haven Memorial Park is a beautiful and serene place for departed loved ones and families to visit. The landscaped grounds, various waterfalls and facilities interiors are well maintained and quite beautiful. My entire family is from Cincinnati. My Parents' and many extended family members are at rest here. My Dad's full Naval Military service in 2019 was very satisfactory as I'm sure he was there, both proud and humbled by it all. The staff is wonderful, very accommodating and friendly. My friends', Dana and Karen on staff are warm, fantastic people who are always willing to go out of their way to help one out. I was glad to visit with them on a recent trip through Cincinnati with my Sister. We enjoyed visiting and praying to our dear loved ones again. I was also glad to finally find our Paternal Great-Grand Parents' site. I intend to be laid to rest here with family one day.”

“This park is absolutely stunning. Not your typical park, yet a welcome surprise. The land is beautiful, high on a hill, surrounded by trees and hills. The park offers many hiking trails that are miles long in the woods, over creeks and under a canopy. There is a Frisbee golf course throughout the front section. While there, I saw deer walking through the far end. The benches and shelters are perfectly placed to capture the breathtaking views of the sunset. This park is truly a hidden gem in Anderson. Please note, no playgrounds just your imagination here, and two portable restrooms. This is now my favorite park in Anderson. Stunning.”

“★ Popularity: Locally known. ★ Size/Location: Medium. ★ Business Type: Park and Trails. ★ Business Hour: Dawn to dusk. ★ Reservation: Public. ★ Parking: Spacious. ★ Accessibility: Dedicated parking spots. ★ Facilities: Restrooms, children playgrounds, baseball field, outdoor theater, gardens. ★ Staff: None seen. ★ Pet-friendliness: Pets are allowed. ★ Kid-friendliness: Kids are welcomed. ★ Expense: Free. I had always heard about this park being near my house, but it wasn't until recently that I finally had the chance to explore it. And boy, was I impressed! The park is conveniently located near a local school complex, but don't let the traffic during the morning and afternoon rush hour deter you - there are multiple parking lots with plenty of space. Once I stepped out of my car, I was immediately greeted by a plethora of activities to choose from. There are walking trails that snake through the park, offering beautiful views of the surrounding scenery. There are also numerous scenic spots where you can stop and take in the natural beauty of the park. The wildflower garden is a particularly beautiful spot that is a must-see. If you're looking for something more active, the park has got you covered. There's an outdoor theater for live performances, a basketball court, a baseball field, and even a children's playground. And if you're looking to just relax and enjoy a nice picnic, there are plenty of picnic shelters and benches scattered throughout the park. The walking trail itself is paved and very well-maintained, providing a comfortable and enjoyable experience. Walking along the trail also offers the opportunity to observe the park as a whole and see everything it has to offer. Despite the park's popularity among the local population, there is always plenty of space to enjoy the various activities. Overall, I was thoroughly impressed with this park and its offerings. It's definitely worth a visit, whether you're looking for an active day outdoors or just a peaceful picnic with friends and family. I can't wait to come back for more of its goodness!”

Playground areas, open field areas, and areas designated for parking are also in Harper Meadows. You need a parking permit for any area of the park.
