Go here for the peace and quietness of nature, the river, and the wildlife. Plus with binoculars you can view the active eagle aerie across the river on the island.
Took our tracker to the inlet , anchored and waded in. Best access by canoe or kayak.
Fantastic island in the middle of the Maumee river. Lots of wildlife on it. Has a funky rope swing on the south side.
I did not choose the warmest day to check it out but still beautiful and the ice damage is incredible.
Water is generally calm and shallow on the Western side, averaging 4 ft deep and then beming choppier and reaching depths of 10 ft as you come around to the Eastern side. There is a channel that cuts through the West side cutting the Island into 1/3. Another channel cuts through from the Northeast, but comes to a dead end. Bass and other predatory fish are not as present here because the bottom is muddy and the water is more stained. Bottom fishing will produce Catfish, Carp, etc if you find a good hole. The Southern side in the main river channel should produce bass.
