Beautiful and peaceful place to rest.
We like to stop by and watch birds from the observation platform. Today's highlights were a great egret and a bald eagle.
Excellent bird watching tower that is open to the public. Lots of birds hanging about. Definitely need a scope or binoculars. I don't think you can go into the actual property away from the observation deck unless you go on a guided tour with somebody from Mill Creek. You would never know this place was here unless you knew about it.
There are no restrooms or other facilities on-site.
More than half of the Wildlife Sanctuary’s acreage consists of large ponds that were constructed as part of the former fish farm operation.
Access to the Wildlife Sanctuary property is restricted, however an observation platform next to the parking lot is open, and allows viewing of the habitats and wildlife. Binoculars or spotting scopes are recommended. Fishing is not permitted at this location.
Directions: From Western Reserve Road, head South on New Buffalo, turn East on Calla Road. Parking and observation platform will be on the left.
Such a beautiful gem in our area I didn't know about until recently. The lookout deck is very nice. Mill Creek also provides monthly bird watch hikes which I would strongly recommend to any nature lover.
