We held a private, one-day retreat, the facility, kitchen and meeting room were perfect. Beautiful location.

I love this place! It’s amazing but this isn’t coming from a parent I actually goto this camp. I have for more then 7 years now. I’ve gotten to know some of the staff I’ve watched them remodel the camp too! If your wondering about the cabins for the overnight camp there well a good size each cabin has about eh 7 beds some are bunks some aren’t they also have side rails for the bunks and for people who might roll off the normal ones. A normal day at the overnight camp starts off with usally a morning activity that each person can pick if they want to do. Yes you can sleep through it then around 8:30 I think 8:30 is breakfast they have food they cook and u can also send food if ur child has a diet or allergy. From then until lunch are mostly activity’s. The staff are really good with getting everyone to participate! High functioning low functioning. There are usually about 4 staff in the cabin though one usally works in day camp.
That’s a ratio of what 3:7 at most. The cabins are Filled by age so each cabin has people of different ages it ranges from 7 at the youngest cabin to 18 at the oldest (that’s the one I’m usually in) they also get lots of volunteers! Last year there were some people going to a university to be OTs which was cool tbh (by the way tbh means “to be honest”). Each week is themed some themes I’ve seen are: super hero’s, space, deep blue sea, and mad science. The buildings are very up to date! As I said I’ve watched over the years they’ve remodeled well actually rebuilt. First the cabins then the rec center then the camp fire circle then the pavilion then the staff cabin (mostly for extra staff) then the dining hall. In the rec hall there’s even a sensory room. There’s also a “sensory dining room” in the dining hall since the dining hall can get loud this room is extremely quiet. They also have a washer and dryer (useful if you can’t pack enough of clothes even useful for me when I run out of fresh shorts or shirts). The camp is also very clean. There is also a beach and a lake behind it. Each activity is themed to the theme of that week. There also very understanding! Even if you make a mistake about something (example you right down the wrong week in the calendar they might let you be there on that week instead of the week your supposed to makes sense though you paid for a week I guess). And a good amount of the people who go have gone for a few years so if your child’s goes a few years they’ll likley also make some friends. All in all it’s a amzing camp.
(Wonder if one of the staff read this review and figure out who wrote it not like there’s that many people still going after there 7th year) also btw there is a age limit for the normal camp (there’s also a adult week) the normal “kid” camp is from like I think 7 to 18. Also you can have a 1:1 aid with your child well I did at one point. Also the cabin doors if opened at night well there’s a alert that can be set on to go off (a bell). It’s also a pretty quiet neighborhood (other then the time when the Nissan GT-R and Aston Martian drove through now that was cool but loud.

This camp is a respite where kids with different challenges can all go and feel like they have some place to fit in. More than that, it’s funded largely through the support of the AKRON Rotarians and it is a jewell. Every two years, Rotarians hold a regatta and raise hundreds of thousands of dollars to ensure these kids have top notch facilities
