“Five years ago today my daughter and I walked into the Defiance Mercy ER due to a large infection on her leg that rapidly was getting worse. Previous treatment was unsuccessful. My daughter was so fortunate because Dr. Goliver was on duty, and I think he's the only doctor in Northwest Ohio who knew what the problem was. He immediately diagnosed aeromonas, a pathogen linked to flesh-eating bacteria. Lab tests later confirmed his diagnosis. His care didn't stop after my daughter was transfered to St. Vincent's. The next day Dr. Goliver called to check on her, and he spent time confirming that the correct antibiotic was being used in the hospital. He explained about the proper antibiotic to use after my daughter's release. After my daughter was released, and I realized the so-called infectious disease specialist prescribed the wrong antibiotic, Dr. Goliver helped us get the appropriate antibiotic. My daughter is now 24 and has both her legs because of Dr. Goliver's knowledge and care.This grateful mama issues a long-overdue review to Dr. Goliver. Not all heroes wear capes.”

We have been really impressed with how caring and patient the staff are with residents. Staff members do a great job of making the place feel welcoming and fun -- lots of activities, good food, opportunities to do things outside of Brookdale, and nice facilities. My mom was reluctant to leave her home but has been really happy at Brookdale and we know she has 24 hour care!”

“I was here recently for some different things related to my blood pressure, anxiety, and other issues. Everyone was helpful and respectful starting from the paramedics to the nurses and the doctors. I was very nervous and anxious in the ambulance but after getting to the hospital and getting set up I felt much more reassured. “This place is great with a few caveats. First, the running track is at a 30° incline towards the center. I kept feeling like I was going to fall onto the basketball court. Second, the rock climbing wall has parts that snap or fall off regularly. Other than those two things, it's a pretty good gym. The staff are all very nice and helpful.”

“Sunday after Christmas took a nostalgic campus tour. It was great, no one was around and I could just stroll about. Started counting new buildings, that have appeared since my days on campus and decided it was easier to count the one that I knew, that were still there. Even my old dorm was gone! South Hall, my speech and theatre homebase was renamed. But get this, the Bursar's building was gone too, if they would have asked I would have helped tear that one down. The advancements in technology and convenience that have amassed since I graduate in 1985 really changed the place. Proud to be a Falcon!!!!!!!!”
