I really love hiking out at osage hills. The trails are amazing and it's actually rare that you see other's out on the trails. It is pretty secluded but seems to have good cell signal in case you get lost lol. I usually take the red and blue trails but the trail by the lake is good too. I did apparently make a mistake of walking through the "group camp" area down by the falls/creek but was shown the error of my ways by a very cranky older lady. Who knew that it was completely off limits if it's been rented?? Yikes
This is one of the most beautiful places in Oklahoma. It is immaculately kept and there are a lot of fun things to do. The waterfalls and swimming area were gorgeous and we spent most of our time there. The bathrooms are brand new and really really nice. We stayed at the tent site at tent hill and the spaces were a little on top of each other but we were by ourselves so it wasn't too bad.
We love this park. It’s a comfortable stay and the grounds are well-kept. Plenty of space between many of the sites. Two specific comments:
1. The park ranger that makes the rounds around the park is incredibly nice. Like, noticeably nice.
2. The arbitrary decision for when to turn on the water at the sites in the spring is strange, but failing to communicate that the water will not be on ahead-of-time for guests (all of whom have made reservations and provided contact information) is just lazy or disorganized, or both.
Wonderful state park. Tent camped two nights at site T. The bathrooms were clean and heated. Staff was very helpful. Trails were marked well. ATT cell service was good throughout most of the park.
We're looking forward to coming back during the warmer months with bicycles and swimming gear.
Don't forget to check in online for camping or parking. All OK state parks are this way now.
Great place to hike and camp the river is a nice place to cool off in the summer. There is NO lifeguard so NO children under 18 at the pool. The place is a pay to park now so there is that fee to consider if you just want to walk around it's going to cost you money. The ranger will ticket you faster than you can blink, he is helpful and nice and even helped us look for lost car keys, amazing.
