Thank you for sharing your home, your faith and your way of life with me. It was a Mountain Top experience and I am forever changed. Blessings to all of you. Love Sally
What an amazing place! When I arrived I had no idea what to expect. The monks and staff at the Abby were both kind and welcoming. They made no attempt to be pushy and simply extended an invitation to rest. I personally joined the monks in prayer and really enjoyed my whole experience. If you are looking for a place to find rest and sanctuary, I cannot recommend the Abby enough!
This is a beautiful space. You can go up for the day and grab a chair to sit and read in. It’s lovely for having time away to think and pray. If you hang around for a while, go down to the cafeteria. They have some refreshments available for a donation. The cookies are always really good.
This is a beautiful place with excellent facilities. Meeting spaces are very nice, well lit and comfortable. Guest rooms are very nice and clean. They are modest, but very adequate for meetings and retreats. See pictures of guest rooms.
The Abby is located on a hill east of downtown. Going out on the side patio offers a gorgeous view of the valley. Very peaceful, restful, calming setting. Guest rooms are small and sparse, no TV or phone in room and serve yourself for clean linens and bedding changes. Meals are served in a common dining area. Guests participate in prayer before going in for the meal, which is served buffet style with self-serve drinks, condiments, etc. Guests bus their own tables. Meals are simple but tasty, offering salad, main course, and two dessert choices. Not to be missed is the museum located in the basement of one of the buildings. Impressive taxidermy display with numerous religious and Native American artifacts - really interesting displays. The guest house has several areas for reading and quiet reflecting. Note that church bells ring several times each day, starting about 5:30 am. Makes for an early morning wake up call.
