“XLB is known for their dumplings (don't get me wrong they're pretty yummy), but they also make amazing eggplant tofu, buns, their pickled cucumbers are fantastic, the fact you order before you sit is ideal. Items come out as they're cooked, so you enjoy everything without filling up too quickly. Their courtesy jasmine green tea is decent, service rocks. ONLY downside is sometimes there are lines down the block, try to go after 7 or right before they open at 5. It’s going to be my new favorite hangout! The restaurant is nice and bright. The bar is beautiful. The staff and service is outstanding! The menu is diverse with a couple of salads, a burger and a few sandwich options. Monday is Burger Monday (Burger + fries + beer for $10!) Sunday - Max’s Fried Chicken Dinner Brunch is served Saturday and Sunday 10-3 This Bloody Mary is one of the best I’ve had. I had mine with a spicy vodka and a chili rim. Check out the garnishes!! They have treats for your 4 legged friends. Rex enjoyed his fish skin treat! I can’t wait to come back and experience their menu more.”

“After a restless night of not sleeping in Portland, I awoke craving a strong cup of coffee and - after that - a Bloody Mary. So I searched for Bloody Mary buffets on Yelp and found Holman's not far from my lodging. This iconic and very vintage Portland bar features dark wood, dark lighting, friendly service, and a pretty delicious-looking breakfast menu. But, having just downed a giant caffe latte at the coffee shop down the street, I wasn't hungry so I just ordered up trip through the Mary buffet. For a very reasonable $6.75 I was given a pint glass with a healthy shot o' well vodka in it and sent to the back room where the buffet awaited. I gotta say, the selection of mixers and hot sauces was over-the-top impressive. And while the selection of add-ins was pretty so-so (um, no bacon or pepperoni sticks - what?!), it was enough to make myself a mean Mary to get the day off to a fun start.”

I visited shortly for takeout after the March shelter-in-place orders went into effect and this place blew my mind with how fresh its ingredients are, how delicious the sandwich combinations are, and how utterly adorable and eye-catching the interior decor is. If I didn't live 20-30 minutes away, I'd go here twice a week just to hang out and get work done (in "normal times") because it's just such a great vibe inside. If you want to support local business owners who really care about their community, then go to Sisters Gourmet Deli! The owners left a lasting impression on me - in the best possible way, they're just such good people - and the food was flawless (and priced well for the quality), so I'll be happily visiting them again soon!”

“Found myself in a position of unexpectedly hosting a birthday party and needing a massive amount of barbecue by noon the next day. Stopped by the cart as it was the closest and most convenient option, explained my scenario, and the guy put together a sample plate for me of all the different meat options. All were great, but we chose the brisket, the smoked chicken, and the ribs as our favorites. Not only did they put together a huge order so I could pick it up early the next day, but the serving size was larger than expected and I heard from various guests that the brisket and the chicken were the best they'd ever had. Looking forward to going back... although it's going to be awhile before my body fully digests yesterday's success.”
