“I had to change my review. The Forestry Dept. finally trimmed my city-owned Chinese ginkgo trees in July 2019. I actually was able to speak to the members of the Forestry crew and they are a great bunch of guys...hard working also. But here is the problem: 1. The mayor and the city want a tree canopy. However, they do not provide the budget, manpower or the equipment to take care of all the trees in the city. 2. Trees need maintenance. You can't just plant them and forget about them. They need to be inspected for disease and insect infestation. And they also need trimming and pruning. 3. The mayor and city council need to recognize that the Forestry Dept. has a monumental job to do. There needs to be an increase in the Forestry Department's budget, more employees need to be hired and more/updated equipment provided. 4. Put the bike lanes on the back burner for awhile and take care of the tree canopy. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The urban forester sent a letter to all residents on Seaton Street in Brookline earlier this year that Forestry was going to treat the city-owned Chinese ginkgo trees that drop foul smelling berries in the fall. The treatment was supposed to slow down or stop the fruiting process on the female ginkgo trees. The letter stated that the work would be done in May and September 2018. The treatments were never done. The urban forester decided that treating the trees would be "too expensive." But, she did not have the professional courtesy to send out a second letter informing the Seaton Street residents of her decision to stop the process. One would think that before the first letter was mailed, the urban forester would have done some homework and had quotes from various arborists.”

Most notably the Now missing Madison Ave Firehouse! That house was torn down yrs ago to make way for the now INFAMOUS East Street Expansion!
