Large state park with large number of different attractions for everyone. Campgrounds, picnic spots, boat ramps, lake, large number of trails, natural attractions and plenty of wildlife. The wildflower reserve is an absolute must see. Highly recommend.
Quaint small hidden away lake and picnic area. There is a boat launch, electric motors only. You and also rent boats, kayaks ext. There is a swimming beach with a concession stand and restrooms. The area has many picnic tables with grills. Nice place to go for the day.
If you are a camper in the woods, there is a campground that is well maintained for tents as well as motorized homes.
Gorgeous park. I was looking for somewhere to walk my dog. It's very peaceful here. Most roads are paved. I drove from one end to the other it's a very nice relaxing ride beautiful scenery there are family cabins camping swimming hole boating picnic areas is even a botanical garden. Unfortunately dogs are not allowed inside the botanical garden so I was not able to visit there.
We were in Cabin 5. Accomodations were good, and the land and trails around the area were very nice and maintained. Beach was a little dirty but not too bad. The one thing you should know is that this park is directly in the landing flight path for Pittsburgh International Airport. Large planes all day and into the night flying over. If you're looking for peace and quiet, this isn't the place. Otherwise, a beautiful PA park for you to visit!
Absolutely beautiful state park! We hiked the Mineral Speings Loop Trail, Valley Trail and Beach Trail this day. The waterfall area with the mineral springs running down the walls was gorgeous on the Mineral Trail. The Valley Trail had beautiful views and fun terrain leading you over to a beach area where the kids enjoyed playing by the water before the hike back. The picnic areas near these two trails were very nice as well. Such lovely nature just a short drive out of Pittsburgh. We had no cell service while in the park which was nice too.
