We called maintenance and at first we didn’t get any response for an hour or so. “Dr. Kager absolutely changed my life! I had had increasing back pain in my lower back for upwards of 5 years. Years ago I saw OSS in york and they immediately wanted to do surgery. At the time i was only about 32 (35 now) and wasnt ready for something like that. I had heard horror stories about spinal fusion surgeries and it terrified me. I was in pain, but managing and i was scared to make things worse so young. I really should have done my research better, because over the years the pain reached the level of constant agony. But i'm also glad I didn't. I finally accepted that I needed surgery and began my search for a great surgeon. Dr. Kager came up over and over again. So many success stories with the only real complaint I saw frequently was issues with friendliness and bed side manner. Well I wasnt looking for a friend, I was looking for the best. At my first appointment almost immediately after he walked in i knew i was the in the right place. He was very kind, but very to the point and i walked out of what most would think was a short appointment feeling completely confident and ready to do this. I had to have an L4-S1 fusion. I am 3 weeks post op and i feel absolutely INCREDIBLE. i'm still a bit sore in the incision site but every single bit of pain I had before my surgery is completely gone. I went off narcotic pain killers after 10 days and only tylenol in the morning as a preventative measure because i'm just not in pain. The first morning I woke up after being off all pain meds...I woke up without back pain, or nerve pain in my hips. I sat up in my bed without crying or struggling and I stood up easily and straight up. And I actually did cry, but only because it was the first time since I could remember that it didn't hurt. His staff is absolutely amazing. Friendly and understanding, answering all of my questions any time I had them. I highly recommend Dr. Kager... he changed my life and i more grateful than i can say!!”

“I feel fortunate that I had Dr. James Thurmond as my surgeon. I can’t thank him enough, I will never be able to repay him what he did for me. My pain that I experienced was horrible. I had a herniated disk in my neck and the pain radiated down my right arm and caused numbness in my pointer finger and thumb. I couldn’t do anything, especially sneeze. Sneezing was the worse pain I felt at that moment and made my entire body feel like it was on fire. Dr. Thurmond explained what was wrong on my MRI and showed me exactly where the problem was located in my neck (C/6). I had two options for surgery. The first one was to have my disk replaced with an artificial disk or have a spinal fusion. He told me that the disk replacement would be the better choice in my situation but my insurance company would have to approve it. Luckily they did. I had a second opinion before surgery and they agreed that I need to have it. My surgery was on June 18th 2019 and it literally is the best health decision I ever made. I walked the day of my surgery to my pharmacy to get my medicine. I received a check up call from one of the nurses in his practice. I literally felt fantastic. My pain was pretty much a zero and I wasn’t on any meds. I took three pills the first day and that was it. I decided to share my experience because I believe Dr. Thurmond is one of the top surgeons in the area. There is no reason to think your experience would be any different than mine.”
