“Overall AIM has done wonders for my son. He loves learning in the environment that AIM has created. For that I will be eternally grateful and recommending AIM to any child. From a parent engagement perspective I have some reservations. For several years I have asked permission to observe my son in his classes as well as observe some teachers in the upper grades. This would help me understand my son's current and future experiences and truly enable me to be a part of the team. Each year I am turned down. Some staff have supported my requests, but the leaders of the school refuse. This makes me wonder if they know that some of their teachers are "too green." In contrast, my other son who attends McCall, an inner city public school, the principal welcomes parent observation. The principal at McCall knows that while the school may lack the small classroom size or amenities of a place like AIM, that their teachers are the highlight and have an unbelievable skill level. Despite my reservations (dislike of secrecy) my son now LIKES school. He has developed good study skills and is learning. At the end of the day, what matters most is that my son is an engaged happy learner and for that I will be eternally grateful to the staff at AIM.”
