Easy to miss the turn for or inadvertently turn into the private drive next to it, but ample parking off the road and a short hike to the trail.

Appalachian Trail parking: Where Smith Gap Terrace connects to the T-intersection is the parking area which is small, maybe 6 cars. Smith Gap Terrace is also the entrance to a private road so you can't block the gate. Getting there by Point Phillips Road is all paved. If you arrive by Smith Gap Road the last mile is gravel/dirt and rough but passable for any type of car.

Room for 5ish cars at T. Road is gravel last 3/4 mile.

Half the road up is dirt and the other side is paved.
