“This is a great old school bar. Everybody-from management, to the bartender, Nina, to the patrons-is welcoming. They have a jukebox and space to dance if you feel so inclined. Drinks are well-made and affordably priced. I like the vibe there. It's really the people. I went Thurs afternoon into early evening and though the crowd changed, it was still great. “Received a ticket for parking in a permit lot without a permit (didn't know, my fault). Didn't know it until I went to my car (which had no ticket on it). I went to drive off, but a white tow truck was blocking me for some reason and refused to move. They had taken my ticket off of the car without hooking it (illegal). The car was mine, as was the ticket, and they blocked my path and withheld my ticket, telling me to pay $175 dollars or to let them tow it. I refused both, as one was illegal and the latter wasn't happening on my watch. They continued to block me in, even after I told them that I would call the police. I did so. 911 told me that this was totally illegal to block me in. After a while of enduring intimidation attempts to get me to pay or get out of the car from the tow truck people, officers from the 39th came and told them that they were holding me hostage. They freed me from extortion and being held hostage! Thank you 39th district from a fellow civil servant. That $175 will go into my high school classroom for my students.”
