It’s beautiful for sure. The wildlife is always visible. I’ve never been there and not seen a beautiful bird, deer, turtle, or some other wildlife that has captivated me. And that is why I go here. A few things that could be improved or that I personally don’t like though: the walking roadways they have are in serious need of repair in several places. Some look like they’re about to crumble into the lake at any moment. It would be nice to have a few more restrooms in the park, along the walkways. If you’ve taken kids walking with you, you’ve found yourself scrambling for a bathroom on these trails (and they’re too populated to “go behind a tree” in case anyone wants to suggest that ;). A state park seems like it should be capable of putting things like restroom shelters around the park and they would probably last forever once they’re built in this park, with how much they protect everything there. And speaking of protected… this is one of the largest bodies of water in the Nashville area and no one can use it. It would be AWESOME if they allowed paddle boats in the lake. Seeing the beauty of this place from the middle of that lake in my kayak would add to the splendor of the park and give Nashville natives another really fun outdoor option to have.
I’d love to see a few things doffer by, but overall this is a really nice park to visit for the peace and nice scenery.
Great hiking area. Paths are very well marked and maintained. We did the Cove and it was the perfect mix of elevations to be challenging but not too long of a distance. Parking can be a challenge at the lot we were at, so if you want to avoid that go early or plan to use the alternative bigger lot.
The lake is gorgeous and peaceful. The walking path is easy and wide - very little incline on the lake trail. If you're looking for more challenging trails, there are several that have significant incline. I always see various wildlife there. There are a few places you can just sit and relax. Parking can be very full when the weather is good. Some people park at the gas station across the street.
We saw wild turkeys! It’s a beautiful park. Luckily we went in the morning so it was easy finding parking. I know the park will be even more beautiful in the summer. There is a visitors center. There are maps in there that you can take with you. Even though it was closed, the bathrooms were still open to the public.
We went to see the eagles who recently nested there. The nest is in a tree next to the lake so easy to get a view. There's plenty of friendly birders who will point them out. There're other wildlife like deer who make Radnor home. The lakeside trail is well groomed and easy to walk. This park is well used and you may have trouble parking if you go late morning. We always enjoy walking here.
