This place was pretty cool to see & read on how Texas began. It was pretty neat that they did make it interactive and not just all reading. We did enjoy walking the trail outside as well, cleared and easy to follow.

Wonderful history, I'm so glad they did this. Perfect for a little family getaway. You can visit the museum and then camp in the park.

A nice, do it yourself walking tour that is off the beaten path. I found it by accident. A car accident on I-10 caused my map to recommend an alternate course, which I accepted. That is how I found it.
It is worth seeing if traveling along the way on I-10. Bring your own water.

Awesome year and a half old museum. They have a room set for different exhibits but the main part of the museum is interactive and awesome. Sundays admission is free. They even have info plates outside telling you about The buildings and where they were. Museum staff were friendly and you could tell they loved their job and were knowledgeable about the subject matter. Section to have the kids dress up and giant interactive mural. Worth stopping in to see.

This is a very underrated historic site related to the early days of Texas up through the Texas Revolution, when it was torched during the "Runaway Scrape". This is the town and site of Stephen F. Austin's headquarters for managing his Colony, and it briefly served as the capitol for the Provisional Government of Texas leading up to the Revolution.

The only original architectural remnant of the town is a well that was once located outside the only home Stephen F. Austin had in Texas, which would later become a hotel for the town. There are other buildings at the site of interest. In addition, a newly constructed museum at the site is very fun with state-of-the-art interactive features and a gift shop.
