“I’m one of ‘those’ full-timers! I’m one of “those” full-timers (about a year and a half now, with no end in sight) at Pecan Park and I love it here! It is quieter, safer, and with the pecan trees and river access RIGHT there, more beautiful than anywhere else I’ve ever lived (and I had several very nice homes over the years.) I feel like I’m in a little slice of heaven in the country where I don’t do any of the yard work, have access to a pool I don’t have to clean, a wonderful community of folks, both the full-timers and weekenders, and am so close to shopping and whatever else San Marcos has to offer. Did the pool used to have some dumb rules? Sounds like it, but now it’s open for all, and NOT “closed for repairs” like it had been too often in the last year. I know that calls hadn’t been returned in the past (I was one of those really frustrated customers who experienced that for quite awhile) but that is no longer the case. I know that some people experienced not-so-great customer service (I did too), but that ship has sailed. I know that someone’s code for the gate was changed without being apprised, and so was mine some months back. All infuriating for us, the customer, because we weren’t treated like we mattered. Well, the owners, David and Rachael, have recently returned after some years of unforeseen absence, and what a difference. Maintenance people have been hired. Lots of graveling, paving, tree-trimming, painting, pool repairs and other updates were put into place. The office is abuzz with activity and calls are answered, communication is open, and David and Rachael have now been consistently present 7 days a week, all day long. They’ve met with each of the full-timers and other winter Texans to get to know them, and it sure feels like we matter to them. There was no incentive for me to write this review, nor did I get any discounts on my rent or favors. I’m just a retired teacher who thinks it’s important to tell people, and let others know, when they are doing well.”

“The honest person. I don't need to call everyday I don't need to take pictures of what's mine I'm not worried if my parts will be swapped out I know I can count on him to make sure job gets done. I needed an engine swapped n I thought he can reuse the same oil well nope he said it's best to put new fresh oil n engine so there won't be problems he even suggested it be best to get spark plugs n filters n coolant so I did everything he said got the parts n he did it all cheaper than most shops in could have spent thousands for oil coolant spark plugs filters labor n engine swapped but I spent a few thousand reasonable price compared to other shops. When u go in only ask for Ethan he's the certified mechanic the other guy I think he's just a person who rents the spot next to him I over heard him asking the simplest things that a mechanic knows n he didn't.”

“This place has always been a great go to for the little things and last minute items without having to go into town. The only thing I would improve and I know it is out of the control of the peoe at the store is there are always restocking carts in the aisles covering the shelves. This wouldn't be too much of a problem but this is a small store that has all of our needs. The people are super helpful, polite, and knowledgeable. They don't hesitate to stop whatever they are doing and help you out.”

“WOW! What an incredible place. Their BBQ brisket is the best. The crust is simple and tasty. They cook the brisket for a long time and it is obvious by the perfectly rendered fat. It was the best brisket I had all day (and I had a lot from different places). I cannot speak to the sides, but the brisket is amazing. The hot room is huge. This place is such a throwback to traditional BBQ. I really like the history of the place. If you are in Austin, make the drive to Lockhart to Kreuz Market--you will be glad you did!”

“This place is a real gem located off the beaten path in Lockhart. The service was excellent and the food was amazing. Portions are large and full of flavor. Ingredients are fresh and well prepared. We will definitely be returning. I heard good things about the crawfish Mac n cheese that I absolutely have to try next time. I highly recommend you stop in and try this place. You will likely make it one of your favorite spots to eat. I have attached a pic of their shrimp and grits on a bed of spinach and the shrimp and shrooms cooked in a white wine cream sauce. Both dishes were superb!”

“Flew into Lockhart yesterday with some buddies for BBQ. The experience couldn't have been better. We were personally met by the owner of the airport Kevin at the plane who gave us a warm welcome. Kevin picked us up on the golf cart and drove us directly to his car where he then offered to take us personally to lunch in his own vehicle. Love the Tesla BTW Kevin. What an awesome experience and WOW the BBQ, thanks for the hospitality. See you again soon!!!”

“Outstanding service! I called this morning, and they were on site for repair this afternoon. I had a freshwater plumbing leak and low pressure issue. Matt was able to diagnose the problem quickly and perform a quality repair with identical parts he carries on the truck. He was personable, patient, and provided wise camper saving advice from his years of experience as a service manager at RV dealerships. I will be calling this team for any and all future service needs in the area. Highly recommended!”

“I bought a refrigerator from G&L Appliance, and it has worked out great. The fridge was sold at a reasonable price, and I am thankful to be able to get fridge right here in Martindale without having to go to a big box store. Thanks G&L!”
