It's a very basic park, not worth the $20 entrance fee for sure, but I guess it helps pay for upkeep so no big deal. They have boat ramps, most were closed due to low water levels. There is a small swimming area, but it turns into a giant mud puddle from all the dirt getting kicked up. It's really rocky too so keep your sandals on, I recommend water shoes at all times. Many people bring pop up canopies and set them up right on the edge of the water, some are in the water. These are the smart ones, do this if you're going.
Overall it's a decent place to go, except for the muddy water, 🤮. My kids didn't mind though.
My family and I went to Canyon lake and had a good time. It wasn't crowded and it felt like we were on a real out of state vacation. The water was blue and the white rocks gave the lake a really good resort vibe.
The drive into Canyon lake was also so beautiful. You see houses on hills.
If you are ever traveling to the San Antonio area you have to go here.
Beautiful part of Canyon Lake to swim or kayak/SUP. The beach water level is really low so there’s no sand and it’s rocky right now. But to the left hand side of the peninsula below the rocks you can get in and swim in deeper, cleaner water. Water temp is nice and you can easily kayak or Stand up paddle board here.
