Free! No charge to park or to enter the water. Wonderful stretch of Guadalupe River lined with cypress trees. Tranquil spot for swimming, fishing, paddle boarding, whatever! During the week, it's not crowded at all.
When you drive into the park, you can park in the first lot on your right, or keep driving to the second lot ( closer to restrooms, pavilion, picnic tables and playground). We pulled into the first parking lot on a Monday afternoon, walked right up to the river, and set up our chairs.
The water is clear and inviting. It's shallow by the shore, but by the middle of the river, I couldn't stand up any more. The swimming was so refreshing and relaxing! Our favorite park by far!
Beautiful place to take the kids to the river. Free river access and easy to get to. If you go on the weekend it may be a bit busy and you'll probably have to walk a little days to get down to the river.
The river area at the park is the perfect place. A really good friend of mine and his wife who visit this spot at least 3 times a week brought my 8 yr old daughter and I here. We both loved it. Great spot to learn or ride in a kayak for the first time and fish as well. My daughter had the opportunity to do both thanks to my buddy and his wife.
This spot is not overcrowded, not too loud, and has no hustle and bustle. Great area to sit and relax in the water or drop your kayak in and paddle down the river and back up. I'm looking forward to returning to this location because of how calm the area is.
I take my dog here to exercise him. I do always have him on a leash, some days there are multiple dogs off leash here. That might be ok for some but my dog is not ok with all other dogs.
Other than this it is a nice place to walk your dog by the river it is full shade and quiet. There is a large open field that is mostly used by people practicing disc golf (bringing their own setup) or people playing fetch with more active breed dogs.
There is a large covered pavilion for party rentals at the other end of the park with restrooms nearby.
Peaceful and beautiful place to chill by the river. There's a lot of spots all along the park side of the Guadalupe to set up a picnic, layout &/or enjoy the water. Several people had their dogs, so it's a dog-friendly park. There is limited parking.
