KL Ranch Camp ~ On The River

Stayed here for this river retreat, & it was beautiful! Very peaceful and the road is away from camping area on higher altitude, no need to worry about car noise passing by, no reception on lower campgrounds but on higher grounds by road you cam get good reception:)

Don't read this fantastic review of the river campground. Sitting in shade along the river bank and kayaking to the waterfall was amazing. Really awesome to look across at the tall cliffs. Loved it, and will return.

This is the most beautiful camping experience I’ve had in Texas so far. You must make the effort to stop out here to experience it. The river is fast paced and cool. A fantastic place to float or even soak to escape from the sweltering summer weather in Texas.

As a very visibly queer person from the city, the staff here has always been open and friendly. I always get the hilltop spot whether I’m camping for a few days or just getting a day pass for some extra privacy - it has stairs that lead down to the best part of the rapids. The views, the river, the. CLIFF. Everything about KL Ranch Camp makes it a Diamond in my book.

We stayed here for the Memorial Day weekend for the first time this year. I was really impressed by the greeters that help you get parked(if you need it). They can spot you or even back your camper in for you. That’s a great service to offer. The site was awesome, right on the river, beautiful view of the river and cliff side. Great breeze. The showers were very clean. Be prepared to spend $1 per shower. There was no sewer hook up but we conserved flushes and water use in the camper and had no problems staying 5 days. They have a convenient dump station on the way out. They also have a small convenience store on site offering ice, water snacks, tubes, sunscreen and other knick knacks. Looking forward to a return visit. Highly recommend.

We had our Easter weekend here, we were on a waiting list and got a call 6 weeks in advance, we didn’t get the spot we desired but honestly any spot here can become a good one. The campgrounds are constantly being cleaned, the facilities are being checked every hour if not more and I didn’t see trash anywhere in or near the water. Great job KL ranch employees, your hard work is recognized. The staff from the office to the entrance workers were all informative, welcoming and full of smiles. Great place for young families because the water is shallow but has spots perfectly to sit and submerge you body. I have little ones who need to have their independence and this place had me feeling comfortable to allow them to explore without the constant fear of them possibly drowning. The campsite was considered to be one of their smaller sites but we had a huge tent and a small one and still could have fit two more smaller tents on our site even with the vehicles parked on site. Overall experience was amazing, only con is being by the road you get to hear every truck and motorcyclist who feels the need to rev their engines, not an issue until nightfall when they wake you and the kids up with a scare. Not KL ranch fault just a note. Always that one person. Definitely reserving for years to come. 😍
