“We found Gruene Estate when looking for an outdoor venue near where I grew up, and after watching the video and looking through all of the pictures, we kept talking about it. We finally decided to take a trip to look at the venue in person and fell in love. The property is spacious but felt intimate for our 60 person wedding. The staff is professional and incredibly helpful and communicative. We loved the coordinators they connected us with and felt like our wedding was pretty perfect here. Melinde helped connect us with local vendors and she even helped us design our reception layout and helped with set up. We loved having our special day at such a special location!”

“Wonderful place to float!! The rain Gods haven’t been to kind to us down here this summer. Little Ponderosa was one of the only floats that had a 2-3 hour float with no walking. I loved that they also had toob choices!! We’ll definitely be back!!”

He was awesome and the 22" pontoon came equipped with large mat and the tube with rope. My advice is don't miss out on a great deal because of someone elses bad experience, give them a try I'm sure you will be very happy with their services.Five stars for awesome low prices and great service, well desererved ! “Michelle is such a great host and was super accommodating with an early check-in request. We loved the little guide book that they had in the house that gave great recommendations for nearby activities, groceries, and restaurants. The location is perfect with plenty to do nearby and is close enough to San Antonio for a day in the city. Even though there are multiple rental properties on-site, you still feel super secluded and can enjoy some quiet time. Our dog loved the house and running around the property taking in all the fresh air! The house itself is so clean with up-to-date appliances and the bed was incredibly comfortable. The hot tub was perfect, I think we used it at least once every day of our stay! We love this place and will definitely be back many more times!!”

“My son's 24th birthday surprise was a -- SURPRISE! We drove to San Marcos early afternoon to Leading Edge Helicopters tours and walked right in and booked a flight. My son and i flew towards and over Canyon Lake and it was beautiful! The flight was about 19 minutes and we flew a total of 28 miles. The expression on my sons face when we drove up was joyous. His reaction in the helicopter, 1000 feet up in the air, was priceless! It's definitely an experience of a life time!”

“It was around $50 to go down a short ways. Most of the river is blocked off because it’s low right now. (Summer 2022) They will keep your keys and cards for you while you go down the River. There’s a gift shop too. They tell you to go right, right, left, left because the rocks are easier that way. I recommend getting a tube with a bottom so you don’t drag *** all the way down the rapid parts. The rocks are rough when the river is low. Some people will get an extra tube for their ice chest which is a great idea. I recommend bringing a thermos with water, extra sunblock, and a hat at least because I got super sunburned in just one hour. We went around 1:00-2:00 and there was some shade, but I still managed to get burn where I didn’t have enough sunblock. Overall, we had a lot of fun. Once you get to the end there’s a bus that will take you back to your car for free. You can tip the golf cart and bus drivers. Great experience, they can’t help that we are going through a drought.”

“Big Chief properties is wonderful to work with in planning vacations. We have used them several times and each experience has been wonderful. We stayed at the Comal Haus with our extended family, 10 adults and 8 kids, for thanksgiving and had a wonderful time. We enjoyed cooking and eating on the expansive porch and enjoying the beautiful view of the river. There was plenty of space for the family to relax and have our own space. We have also stayed at the Rapids house next door for a girls weekend and loved the fun vibe of the house. The kitchen is well stocked with everything we needed!”

“This was my second visit to the Tipis in as many years. You can tell the owners are making a lot of effort to keep the property updated - all the units have fresh coats of paint, the linens were fresh, the trees have been trimmed up, and the walk to the river is level and clean. The housekeepers were so pleasant and friendly, willing to help out when I had a question. Also, when I called the office to order firewood they were promptly delivered by Billy. The other guests at the other Tipis were having a great time and the vibe was just so chill out there. I would recommend this place to anyone who wants to just get away from reality for a couple days.”
