we tried the food at the cafe, and everything was delicious. i wasn’t even starving but demolished my food! the beef and mushroom bunny chow is wonderful. i am from the UK and so thankful to be able to pick up some of my favorite snacks here without traveling further. the prices are reasonable considering the import fees
QUICK VISIT REVIEW. We came upon Anton's on our way to the movies. We stopped in and were immediately greeted by the owners. Pressed for time, we did a walkthrough of the grocery portion and found it well stocked with various African products. Final purchase was two custard cups which were very tasty. We definitely will be back with our kids next time to try their delicacies.
Wonderful spot! This was my first time having South African food, and it was a great experience. The staff took the time to walk us through the menu before we ordered, and the chef explained each dish as they were brought out (we ordered a bunch of stuff and wouldn’t really have known what was what). The food was delicious! Also, this place is half restaurant and half market, so it was cool to spend some time looking at all the products from South Africa.
I was given a hard time for leaving LA and that I'd never find "culture" in TX, but as usual, they were all proven wrong. This place is DELICIOUS!! I had a conversation with the owners and I love how passionate they are about their food and maintaining authenticity and freshness. I can't wait to take my family back!!
Try the lamb curry....a little spicy and absolutely scrumptious.
This place was awesome! It doesn’t have to be a suit and tie affair to be five star. We could feel the good vibes as soon as we walked in. The staff and owner are very friendly and welcoming. We had never tried this place before and I knew my family had never eaten African food before. They were very pleased and entertained. Anton made a fresh traditional meal for me and I felt like part of the family. I can’t pronounce half the stuff, but I recommend going in there hungry.
Round 2, tried the Oxtail and my wife had the triplet breakfast. This place is like having a family member that cooks for fun. The food was delicious and we left needing a nap. Yep, just like visiting family.
