“Desiree the owner of the Pink Pelican Boutique has personally invited me many times to come to her boutique and shop. I have been in there many times and have always enjoyed shopping the accessories, artwork and unique Texas themed products but I am ashamed to admit I never once looked at her clothes. Let me explain. I have been a plus sized woman all my life. If you have ever been a plus sized woman you understand that there are assumed challenges in the world of fashion. Shopping in a boutique has never been an option I thought was open to me. I assumed if there were “plus” sized clothing that it was clothes that included an XL or what is usually the case clothes that are not even close to sized properly. I am a size 18 that usually equates to a 1x if it is extremely rigid material or a very fitted cut I will go to a 2x for comfort. I have found that often in a boutique situation I am a 3 or even 4x which is not a size that is widely carried. I was very surprised when Desiree handed me 1x clothing that actually fit me. One of the other pitfalls I fell into was getting into a style rut. I read somewhere at some time that skinny jeans were what larger women should wear to flatter their shape and make them look smaller. When I tell you I have 10 pairs of the same skinny jeans I am not exaggerating. Desiree asked me if I would trust her and try on some things that were outside of my comfort zone. I said of course I would I trust her. She handed me a pair of tie at the waist wide legged loose fitting pants and I know I looked at her like she had no business being in the fashion industry. I took them in hand went into the changing room and put them on because I told her I would and for no other reason. Y’all they were so dang cute. They did not add 30 lbs to my body or make me look like I was wearing a tent. Her response “that is what being styled by someone who knows what they are doing looks like.” She is sassy that one. The other elephant in the plus size room is price. We are not unreasonable we understand a $1.00 markup for more fabric we have been conditioned as such; however, often in the area of non big box store shopping the price of plus sized clothing is prohibitive. I mean get a new wardrobe only if you win the lottery kind of prohibitive. I asked Desiree why her prices were so reasonable and she stated because she thought every one should be able to afford to feel and look beautiful. My whole experience in shopping with Desiree was one of personal service and attention to my comfort and budget level. I left from “doing her a favor” by being a live person model for some of her clothes to being a very big fan who intends to shop with her as much as I can. The clothes were elegant and stylish and fit so well. If you add up the quality of the clothing with the quality of service and direction from a knowledgeable business owner you get the whole and true picture of why you should always shop local and small. I cannot recommend the Pink Pelican Boutique enough. Thank you Desiree for opening up a whole new world for me. You are the best 😊”

“Seafood Alfred was good; plenty of protein - mussels, shrimp, and crawfish. Pacific Burger was super tasty! Shrimp Kisses $12.99 (Brochette) with fried onions appetizer was really good. Bacon was cooked perfect and stayed on shrimp a it was eaten. Even the salad was good, fresh and crisp. This will be marked as a favorite! All burgers and sandwiches comes with fries for under $15!”

“We hired Mr. Manns to build us a custom barn door for our office. The opening was not standard, so a custom solution was needed. He came out and measured, heard what we wanted and encouraged us to send some pictures. I could not find pictures of exactly what we were looking for so sent several pictures of wall hangings, antique doors, etc. that had the style we were interested in. He used those pictures to create a custom, awesome design that was just what we wanted to match the wood and decor near the office. He delivered on time, invited us to bring him an example of the color stain we wanted, and to see the progress, and then installed it in 1/2 a day - framing out the door, installing the hardware, etc. The craftsmanship is top notch and the door looks amazing! We are so pleased - very high quality job!”
