“White Hall Grocery is more than just a "Convenience Store"...This is the local watering hole where yarns are told, gossip and tall-tales are exchanged, with smiles and hand shakes! This is one of those time travel portals in small town America where you can grab a coke, sit on the bench outside with your dog and meet say HELLO to almost everyone within a 10 mile radius within the course of a day! You gotta stop, but don't just run in and out, sit and take a load off and exchange a HOWDY with a neighbor you might just be invited down the street for dinner! SERIOUSLY!”

If you are ever in the area between mid-March and mid-April, you will see a kaleidoscope of wild flowers all along FM-362. “Go out to farm and ranch land, on FM-362, off the main highway, and down a gravel and dirt road, more than half a mile, and you will find Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. According to the Grimes County Historical Society, this church was built by the black residents of the now defunct town of Retreat, Texas., in the late 1800’s. Pleasant Hill Baptist Church is a beautifully built structure with two towers, white clapboard planks, and stain glass windows. The church and the house right beside the church, both need some tender loving care. It would be a shame to let this old sanctuary go into even move disrepair.”

“I always have an enjoyable and relaxing day at Lone Star. I have always gone during the week and there have only been a few other nudist but that is OK with me. The grounds are large and pleasant. There is a large pool with nice clean restrooms. Granted there is not a clubhouse or many other amenities but when I have visited other resorts I never use them. I much prefer Lone Star to Emerald although that is not meant to put down Emerald.”

“I attended Camp Allen as a summer camper over 40+ years ago. I have so many fond memories. My daughters have also attended the summer camps. They are phenomenal. From the activities to the food. We all have loved every minute. Over the last 5 years we have used the cabins for family reunions. Now that is awesome. Private cabins and meeting space. Enough room for outdoor activities and plenty of room for inside gatherings and meals. I have even had the privilege of staying in the area that is more like a hotel. It has a great cabin feel. If you are looking for a nice quiet escape I recommend you book. You will love it.”

“I have now been too grisly pines three times. It is already like I am spending the weekend with family. Only of course this is family who I really enjoy haha. The owners are super friendly and kind and helpful and will do absolutely anything in their power to make your visit a pleasant one. The last weekend that I went there were a unique group of guys who I know had been looking for a spot where they would feel comfortable being themselves. Every one welcomed them with open arms and I know they are planning many more trips to the wonderful Grisly Pines. added 9-5-2018 I have now been to G.P. four times and it just gets better and better. There is a pretty large contingent who are permanent campers. How I do envy them! I made my reservation late and had to stay in the bunk house but even it was fun. There may be a better gay campground but I don't see how.”
