“Had a check I needed cashed. I usually use the local PLS to cash any checks I received on the weekends and this particular one they wouldn’t cash because it needed verification and they couldn’t get ahold of the people who issued the check. So I walked into the Woodforest Bank in Walmart frustrated and they told me they wouldn’t have a problem cashing the check but I needed to open an account with them. Luckily I’ve been needing to switch banks anyways. Knocked out 2 birds with one stone. Thank You Woodforest!!!”

“UPDATE: The actual owner of this Shell station called me personally and apologized for this incident. He was shocked to hear what had happened. It is good to know that the entire station does not act the same way as the man I encountered (see below) and I would like to say that I know feel differently about this location. If the rest of the employees are as kind and helpful as the owner, then I would recommended stopping in. PREVIOUS POST: AVOID AT ALL COSTS! This afternoon we stopped at this gas station to get gas and were approached by a worker claiming he was the manager. He said he had to pump our gas, which none of us had ever seen before so we were thrown off, but complied and even offered to do it ourselves. At that comment the man got very aggressive and started harassing the driver. For no reason at all he started with “all of you white women need to stop walking around like you’re gods. You can’t treat us black men like this.” The driver said, “I’m sorry sir if I offended you by offering to pump my own gas, but I was confused because I had never been to a gas station where they pump your gas for you.” But he did not stop. It got to the point where we all had to get out of the car to ask him to stop because it was inappropriate and unnecessary. It came out of nowhere. No one was being rude and no one was being racist. He then went off on me and how I was a “privileged white female who looked down on people like him and needed to adjust the way I thought of others.” This man doesn’t know me, my financial background, or anything about my life. I walked out of the car to ask him to stop because it was inappropriate and got harassed. Not only am I appalled but I am mostly upset. No one asked for this, we were just stopping to get gas and he came over and started on us. I was not raised to be a racist of any kind. The man didn’t even look me in the eyes before accusing me of being “privileged” and a racist. It was saddening to me and also very offensive. I don’t recommend going to this gas station. There is a Texaco across the street that I will be sure to stop at the next time I am in town.”
