T.H. Rogers is a great school! It definitely CHANGED my life. I am currently in high school and I know that T.H Rogers prepared me very well. I would definitely not be the person I am today and I would definitely not be achieving the things I'm achieving today if it wasn't for my T.H. Rogers experience. There are challenges, but this enhances your knowledge and ways of thinking. Organize your time wisely, and you can get way more sleep, which affects your outcomes in in-school performance. I would recommend T.H. Rogers School to people who are willing to take some challenges and work hard. This challenge is completely worth it and will greatly benefit you later in life. TH Rogers is the BEST middle school in Houston to prepare you for high school!
I had only been at this school for 1 year so far, and I really like it a lot. The teachers are really helpful if you don't understand something, and their methods of teaching are fun most of the time. In middle school it may be a little tough but if you manage to stay organized and finish everything in time, you should be fine. Don't procrastinate, and you should not be distracted by anything otherwise you can't get your work done. Study hard for the tests and you will be good to go. Bullying here is very rare, and the school is very small so it is not hard to make lots of friends. I really recommend this school, it is the best.
great school. academics are great! most of the teachers teach well and even if you don't understand, you can go to tutorials or get help from a friend/older student. there's a lot of homework/projects, but it's definitely manageable. teachers are very understanding as long as you're not a problem student.
sixth/seventh grade teachers range from okay to awesome. most are great (!!), some are slightly biased.
one main problem in rogers is the lack of electives: i.e., in eighth grade there are around 8 electives, multiple of which are very similar (art I and art 8, for example), so really there are about 6 different electives.
in terms of school environment, there's rarely any bullying/violence and no drugs or harmful substances being passed around. the community is really great!
overall though, rogers is a great school that really shines in academics and students but lacks a bit in electives/clubs/extracurriculars.
T.H. Rogers is a great school for those who can manage lots of homework. The homework load is a decent amount but if you wait till the day before it's due, you might struggle with turning your homework in on time. If you are planning on coming to Rogers, don't worry. Rogers is a small school where practically everyone knows each other, and bullying is very rare. The staff are very nice people, and if ever in need of assistance, they will always stop and help to get you on the right track. I have been going to Rogers for a total of 7 years now, but I had prior knowledge of the school before I started. I used to struggle with schoolwork, not understanding the concept and how to thoroughly work through it, but the teachers took there time to make sure I understood it. The teachers will try to help as much as they can, especially in middle school. The try to teach each middle school student that goes to Rogers to be independent and stay organized. Some tool that may help your child or yourself is a chalk or expo board with the days Monday-Friday. Each time they are assigned an assignment, write it down on the due date of that assignment to see what they need to get done in the week.
I hope this was helpful to you and your student!
I gave T H Rogers 5 stars because this is an amazing school. I've spent my entire middle school here, and they were the best years of my life so far. You may have heard many rumors about how this school has so much work, and it's true. T H Rogers pushes you to bring out your full potential, but how your experiance is at this school also depends on you. Definitely be organized and manage your time well. Also, don't be afraid to ask questions. The teachers are wonderful, understanding, and always willing to help. The principals are outstanding and are always doing so much for the school. The people here are also very nice and this is a no-bullying school, and you learn so much about the importance of character. If you want to learn in a comfortable environment, want to strengthen your character, and want to succeed in academics, this is the school for you. If you choose to go here, I promise you won't regret it.
