“This place is really neat and full of great animals. As a mother to a small child it can be hard to go places, so it was nice to go somewhere so family oriented. We were able to take the time to see and learn about everything. The tour guide was full of information and I learned so much about animals I had never had the chance to see before or get that close to! This place was easy to want to support and come back to visit again!”

“The GOOD LIFE, indeed. I can’t think of a more perfect name for La Vida Buena Acres, a peaceful, pastoral paradise, nestled midway between Dallas and Waco. This tranquil retreat is a true escape from the hustle and bustle of city living, reminding you to slow down, breathe in the fresh country air, and cherish the simplicity and beauty of mother nature. Shanna and Rick have truly poured their heart and soul into this farm, and it shows. Start your day off with some coffee on your private patio while soaking in the morning sun, sounds, and beautiful views. You will likely be greeted by their sweet and loving farm dog, El Guapo, who will serve as your guide during your stay. Next, make your way to the chicken coop, with El Guapo leading the way, to feed the chickens and pick out some farm fresh eggs. Swing by the main house to grab some incredible, locally sourced LVB breakfast sausage and have yourself a literal farm-to-table breakfast. After you are throughly nourished with the freshest, most organic food, the day is yours to explore the rest of the farm. While meeting the pigs was definitely entertaining, the highlight for me was watching the sheep and lambs frolic and play. I could have sat with them all day! Once you’ve finished exploring the grounds, settle in to your charming casita. A secluded sanctuary for rest and relaxation, the casita comes complete with all the amenities, including a full bath, kitchen, flat screen, and Wi-Fi (for those remote workers who can’t completely disconnect) and of course A/C! I was fortunate enough to have my hosts prepare a Michelin-star worthy dinner for me that night. Mouth-watering carnitas tacos (probably the best I have ever had and i have eaten a lot of tacos living in Austin!) lovingly prepared by Rick and provided by their own LVB pigs. Coupled with Shanna’s Frijoles Magnificas de LVBA, the most amazing barracho beans—which were also infused with tender, juicy LVB hamhocks—this meal was truly spectacular. I was in hog heaven and slept like a baby that night. I should add that all of their produce is available for purchase at an extremely good price. They sent me home with two hamhocks and a picnic roast. If you’re lucky, they might give you the recipes as well. The care, comfort, and warmth of genuine hospitality is what sets LVB apart. Shanna and Rick are the most impeccable, hospitable hosts. You will leave feeling relaxed and recharged. I cannot wait for my next visit to LVB Acres!”
