I chose Dr. Jacob Manuel of St. David’s Center for Hip and Knee Replacement for my hip replacement surgery. I was looking for someone who used the anterior method of this procedure and was referred to Dr. Manuel by another practice that did not offer the anterior method. Dr. Manuel, Alison Collins his PA, and the whole staff were extremely qualified and professional during all my appointments. The surgery went very well and my hip was immediately pain free. My recovery time was very short and I was able to return to normal activities very quickly. The anterior method utilized by Dr. Manuel has much fewer limitations post surgery than other people I know have who used other methods. I recommend Dr. Manuel and his office very highly.
Very professional and integrated process. Office is easy to access from Garage 2 at St David's. Dr Manuel explains things in detail and in a way that is easily understood. He has good patient rapport and a nice sense of humor. I had some follow up questions over the weekend and he took the time to call me on Monday morning to respond to my concerns. Support staff (including medical assistant, radiology tech, and PA Alison) were all friendly, kind, professional and helpful. The office was running from behind in mid-afternoon by 45 minutes or so but the waiting room is quite comfortable. He is in high demand due to his expertise and first available surgery date was two months away (due to a cancellation).
This place is incredible. I had to change doctors at the last minute and I admit to being a bit nervous about that. Boy was I wrong. Dr Romero was wonderful. He spends time with patients before and after surgery. You are not just a bunch of xrays but a person who needs reassurance about treatment. That’s exactly what I got. Dr Romero would definitely my recommendation for hip surgery
Also the facilities and staff were amazing. Helpful, professional, and energetic. I never had to wait more than a minute or two when I rang for assistance. They want you to become independent as soon as possible and work with you to meet that goal. I’ve had hip replacement before and there was a marked difference in their approach to patient care. I wanted to highlight one or two individuals at St David’s but I could t as they are all , without exception, great.
I really did try to think of one negative thing to say and ho early I couldn’t. And I’m not related to anyone who works there.
I love this office so much. My appointments have been in the early mornings so there is only a few other patients. It is extremely clean and the staff are attentive. I really feel cared for here. I have not had surgery yet but I trust them to care for me through out the process. On my last visit Alex thoroughly explained the hip surgery to me. He was enthusiastic and made me feel at ease. Both Alex and Dr. Shelby have told me that I should wait to have the surgery since I am young but to keep checking in every year or so. My first orthopedic doc I went to 4 years ago wanted a hip replacement right away. I am so glad I got the second opinion. I have been relatively pain free over the last few years even though I have arthritis in my hips. Dr. Shelby and Alex are experts in this field and I feel so fortunate to have found them.
I feel very lucky to have found Dr. Manual, Allison and the rest of the staff at St. David’s center for knee and hip replacement. From the first visit to the office, I was very impressed with their professionalism and knew I was in good hands. Teresa, the surgery scheduler, also helped me with concerns related to surgery. I was always able to get my questions answered within a day. I feel like they were careful to ensure the success of my knee replacement by making adjustments to my physical therapy when needed. I had a bad experience with an orthopedic office in Round Rock, so I had put off my surgery for several years. I am so grateful for this practice. I recommend them whole heartedly.
