Westlake Dermatology & Cosmetic Surgery - Onion Creek

The team at Westlake, including Dr. Zhao and his supporting players, are fantastic. From the moment I walked in I felt entirely cared for and seen. Dr. Zhao gave ample time and attention to my consultation, in-office treatment and crafting a follow-up plan. He made me feel like my concerns were valid and that we'd get to an answer together. Thank you to the whole staff - I will definitely be back for my follow-up care!

This was my first visit to a Dermatologist ever so to say I was a bit nervous would be an understatement. However the staff at Westlake Dermatology (Onion Creek), Dr. Zhao and his staff in particular, were so professional, knowledgeable and calming that any anxiety I previously had quickly went away.

Dr. Zhao had a depth of knowledge and experience that allowed him to quickly and efficiently take care of my needs and I'm forever thankful.

Dr Zhao was the dermatologist for me, even though there's another WD near me, and I had to drive 30 minutes to this location. I went to see him for various skin concerns, but mostly for acne, and all of my visits were quick and effective:
- My acne and skin concern was resolved. As he told me I might not need to come back, I didn't have to after the first visits.
- There was little to no wait when I arrived; Dr Zhao was very on time with the appointment time.
- He was warm but professional, patient when explaining things to me, and listened to my concerns. No condescending tone, dismissive or snarky comments.
- He showed genuine care for the patient, recommending affordable, and simple skincare. He told me to simplify the products I'd used and recommend me more affordable medications. There was no pushing to buy expensive products.

I still remember all of this because he is totally opposite to my previous dermatologist (and she has 1000s of positive reviews... -_-)

Other positive things I noted during my visits here:
- Appointment was quick to book and cancel. They don't charge you for cancelling.
- The office was very modern and clean, not sterile and dental feeling at all. It was brand new when I was there.
- Front desk lady was very nice and made me feel welcomed.
- They gave discount for skincare stuff they sell at the office, so I always bought EltaMD sunscreen there :D

Overall I'd recommend him and hope he stays awesome and caring. I moved away, and Dr Zhao has raised the bar on dermatologists for me that it's hard to find one in my area now ;(

I needed to have a suspicious mole checked, and I was able to get an appointment within two days. The office is new - beautiful, bright, and clean, with a relaxing vibe. The receptionist was friendly and efficient. Within a few minutes of arrival, Melissa took me back to an exam room. She was friendly and professional, and chatted pleasantly with me until Dr. Zhao came in. He was also very kind, professional, and efficient. I opted for a procedure which turned out to be swift and painless.

My entire experience took around 30 minutes, and I had excellent interactions with everyone I encountered. I would happily return to this location.
