The best time to go kayaking is in the morning, since the Tom Miller Dam usually releases water in the afternoon to meet peak Austin energy demands. Parking is dismal on afternoons and weekends. Be warned that there are no restroom facilities on the island.
This place was amazing we went for father's day and had a blast fishing the river! the scenery was beautiful, the park was really clean other than a few coke bottles and small amounts of fishing line (we picked it up and threw it away). Other than that just seen a lot of happy, smiling, friendly people and their happy dogs, will be definitely going back no questions about that.
Awesome gem! Let the dogs run free! Our fur kids enjoyed romping around in and out of the water. As others have said, downfall is the lack of parking and having to wait for it. Please wait in the car line entering the small lot until your turn for a spot opens up.
My dog loves the place. Plenty of small trails, water access points and furry friends. You'll have to wait for parking at peak hours. Now, if you have a small/young/anxious dog, and are worried about other dogs engaging with them, keep them on a leash or avoid this place. You should know what you're getting into, when you come to a "leash-free" dog park. Enjoy the place.
Had to wait in line for parking, but once we got in pup pup had a great time. Some folks seemed annoyed at the off leash dogs, but it's clearly stated that it's an off leash dog park, so no real airing of grievances. Great trail for running and plenty of access trails to hop in the water along the way.
