“The EMT team from Austin Fire Station 43 were absolute superstars taking care of me last week. They arrived promptly and quickly realized there was no way to get their stretcher down our narrow hall. I had reopened a knee replacement surgical site in a fall and there was no way I could walk or hobble my way out of my Office day bed without spilling lots more blood. They quickly turned my Aeron chair into a temporary mobility device and got me to the stretcher. Once in the ambulance they quickly addressed my pain level and cheerfully listened while I babbled about anything to keep my mind off the pain. We are lucky to have such skilled and really nice men and women serving our area. The only issue was going to the Seton Southwest ER...but that particular nightmare was our fault. I promise to bring brownies and some healthy treats br the station once I am mobile again! Also..Jessica I tried to send an email..but it keeps bouncing. Can you find me on LinkedIn? Thank you all again for your service and care for our community.”

“During the winter storm they were responding to calls, had lots of info, were just a great source of encouragement, I felt so safe knowing they were across the street, and they were so kind to come chop up some firewood for me so I could keep my fire going. True miracle workers with a great, positive attitude during an unforeseen disaster. I feel so safe with them nearby!”

“I should have posted this years ago...shame on me. I wanted to say that we had a fire at our house overlooking Lake Travis a few years ago. We called the fire department and they showed up very quickly and were able to save the house, only the deck burned up. Without their efforts, we would have lost our home. I've also survived a bout of Leukemia, came back home where I had to relearn how to walk, talk...all that jazz. One thing I didn't know about, I'd have seizures. I had one 16 months ago where I was life-flighted to a hospital. This fire department made it there before the helicopter and helped get my messed up body onto the chopper, none of which I remember, thankfully. Go Pedernales Fire Department, thank you for all you have done for our communities and families!”

“Today we called the station out of the blue to see if our son could come by and see a fire truck - he’s wildly obsessed. With Covid going on they could let us around the heroes but went ABOVE and beyond to let us drive up and the crew took out the truck, turned on the lights and honked. Truly made his day. Station 301 is amazing. Thank you for all you do!”
