Love the way our kitchen island turned out. Joe was great to work with and helped us stay in budget on this project. His shop is filled with an amazing selection of slabs and beautiful pieces of wood. Can’t wait to do another project with him.
Joe was great to work with on my live edge desk project. He has lots of species to chose from - elm, cherry, maple, cedar, and white oak . We found a great piece of white oak and Joe did a terrific job finishing the slab. It wont be our last project with Joe!
Joe Konopka has an incredible supply of hardwoods and is a very talented. creative wood craftsman. His unique furniture is artistically designed and skillfully built, often using reclaimed hardwoods and live edge slabs. Definitely a master at his craft.
I first went to Urban Forest Hardwoods because I wanted to make a new live edge bathroom vanity. When I first came to Joe's shop he was welcoming and gave me a tour of the many slabs he has. He has a great selection of walnut as well as white oak, maple, ash, and some cherry to name a few species. After finding the slab I liked he was cool enough to cut it down to the dimensions I wanted right there in the shop. Joe has great knowledge of woodworking and was able to answer all of my questions. As you can tell by the picture the vanity turned out great! I have actually gone back for a second piece to make a large dining room table out of a 9' walnut slab. I will be sure to update when I am finished. If you are looking to get a unique live edge slab, Urban Forest Hardwoods is the place to go. 5 stars I highly recommend.
I am building a stand up desk and wanted to use quarter sawn white oak. I found Joe online and and drove down to see him. He suggest Rt 5 out of Richmond as it is a scenic route- good suggestion!
He showed me a few pieces of wood, we talked about the shape on the edge and the finish. A couple of weeks later I had my top and a matching shelf. It was just what I was looking for and had a great, durable finish, perfect for a desk. If you need something made of wood, I am sure Joe is the right guy.
Now I am just waiting on my Iron shelf supports to be made.
