“Interesting place to visit, historical, wonderful and informative volunteers. Good way to learn how grains were milled. Did not see any public facilities. Still a nice place to visit and buy flour.”

The Josephine School Community Museum

Address: 303 Josephine St, Berryville, VA 22611, USA

Museum

“The museum is in a historic old building that was the only school for the black community. The exhibits focus on the prominent, if uncelebrated, role of African-Americans in the history of Clarke County. The museum sponsors a book club and many cultural events each year. The museum is open to the public on Sunday afternoons or by special request. It is a hidden gem and worth the trip to Berryville.”
