“Interesting Historic House to rent. Perfect for a unique get to gather when you do not have the space. The facility has a kitchen with rooms that can be set up for seating. Tables and chars are available at the facility. Both the main level and basement level are accessible with the largest room on the basement level. Personally, I would not use this facility for a wedding reception because of the distinct rooms would separate your guests. Something less formal it works great. Guests can wonder around talk and take in the historic photos on the walls. Current pricing is reasonable Base Fee (4-hours): $380 Extra Hours: $95/hour Alcohol Beverage Use Fee: $200 Security Deposit: $300”

“This is a small historic park. It has a house, Mill, iron workshop, general shop, a large picnic area,, trails,, etc... plenty of parking. I've been here several times, and it's a great place for photography. If I remember correctly, we took pictures here for one of my photography classes. When I visited today, I spotted 2 deer... so cute! This park is also very dogfriendly.”

“What an amazing visit! The tour was an hour long. There’s a small museum with interesting facts and interactive stations. Worth the reading and great intro before tour. The tour guide (Laura H.) was amazing!!!! She knew so much, provided thorough answers that connected with other historical estates and period events that I’ve visited. The house was so interesting and a great architectural inspiration! And what was so pleasant was how large the property was, how we were able to ask so many questions on your as opposed to being shuttled through like other more popular sites (or Mt. Vernon), and it was more tranquil being in a more remote and undeveloped area of Alexandria. Only sad part was that the garden was being restored so it was difficult to get a river view. But I’d be so glad to return!!!”

“A small and unique museum that runs off donations tucked away in the heart of Fortlauderdale. I first discovered this museum a while back when my child was invited to a birthday party. ( yes you can book a party here). One of Fort Lauderdale's original fire houses turned into a museum. You really get a fell for what it would have been like to be a fire fighter in the 1920's. As most of the building is original. But their are plenty of other things to enjoy such as the history of the progression in fighting fighters. As well as old gear and antiques in fire safety. The kids will have a fun time as their are a few activities and games for them as well. The best part is you will leave with a vast knowledge of fire safety and what it's like to put your life on the line for others. Well worth the trip.”

“Fantastic museum filled for US Army material. Great and well deserved dedication to those brave men and women. The museum is divided into time periods which makes it easy to track the transition and development of the Army over time. Good videos that explain different events. Also contains some activities for younger kids to enjoy.”

“We had an awesome morning here looking around. They have a scavenger hunt kids can do, which my daughter LOVED. She ended up getting a pin, a magnet, and a few stamps. This made the experience more enjoyable for her for sure.”

“A GREAT way to spend the day, especially if a) you have kids b) you have and afternoon/evening flight out of Dulles airport or c) have any affection for aviation. We had a flight out of Dulles Airport at 5pm and I know from being a little kid and going to the other air and space museum on the national mall that the air and space museums are just the coolest at any age. We spent about 2 hours and didn't quite get to everything, but felt satisfied. I would not go there unless you have at least 1.5 hours to check it out. I think the average visit is 3 hours. I highly recommend it!”

“Very enjoyable. A small museum, very well laid out. The firearms on display are historic and some are incredibly beautiful. The exhibits change so a second visit should be just as interesting. We were only there for an hour, but would have enjoyed staying longer if we had more time.”

“Very pretty and kept nicely. Parents if you go with kids under 2, TAKE AN ERGO/carrier. Strollers are not allowed in the house. The house is a must see. So pretty and kept up. Cost of admission was very reasonable and gave you access to the grounds. Short walk from Pohick Regional Park. Note, no “food” around like Mt.Vernon, so pack snacks for the kids and yourself. The grounds are beautiful and big. A must see in Virginia and away from the traditional colonial visits. No long wait like Mt.Vernon.”

“I just love old mills. Glad the general admission included this tour. If you are mechanically minded you can see all that it would take to put one of these together (the waterwheel and all the gears working together). Looked like high quality corn meal. Made me hungry for corn bread.”

“Good beer at a friendly local brewery. Their staff members were cordial and knowledgeable. Parking was limited-- be ready to walk.”
