My brother ordered ube cheese pandesal and ube creme brulee cake for my birthday. According to him, putting in the order and picking up the goodies was super easy. The chef was even nice enough to throw in a flan doughnut for him, and that has got to be one of the best doughnuts I've eaten - it was so crisp and stuffed with custard, with a delicious disc of flan on top. Super messy but worth every finger lick.

The ube pandesal was fluffy and soft and contrasted perfectly with the salty cheese inside. It reminded me a lot of Jamaican coco bread. It heated up wonderfully and was excellent with a cup of tea or coffee. Don't tell my coworker, but it was even better than her homemade ones!

On to the cake - unfortunately, we cut the cake two days after we picked it up due to some circumstances so we missed out on the crackly top, but even with the sugar melted into the custard, the cake was still delicious. The ube cake layers were so moist and flavorful and the ube cream cheese frosting was lightly sweet and very fluffy. I loved the cake SO MUCH. It's what Bakeshop's taro cake wishes it could be. I can't wait to try another cake or pastry from here!

I hesitate to do a review for Chef Eva, b/c I don't want her to get too busy for my orders, but since I love giving due credit, gotta do it.

I discovered Chef Eva online somehow, maybe beginning of the year, and had her bookmarked. Father's Day, decided to give her a try. Amazing! I've had only 2 items from her, but both attest to her understanding of flavors, textures, and a luxurious experience.

I am also thrilled to find such a remarkable chef of Filipino baked goods locally, which only makes me appreciate the DMV even more - we've got everything!
