  A bit smaller than expected but a nice place to walk and do some fishing.

  They work very hard out here to make sure there are native Virginia plants for a healthy ecosystem. There are butterflies, bees, birds, dragonflies and tons of beautiful flowers there. They even have a native bed hotel! Well worth the trip out there!!

  Came here with my wife on an oddly warm day in January and had the place to ourselves. Apparently it's a good place to hunt as well.

  A hidden jem!! Merrimac wildlife preserve is absolutely beautiful. When I went, around noon, I was astounded that I did not see any other people there. The bluebell trail is so picturesque, quiet and well maintained. However, the trail signs can be a little misleading when you begin at the Stone House parking lot and go to the left. I reccomend parking at the North gate instead, and head counterclockwise. Also, definitely wear bug spray and check for ticks before leaving.

  Beautiful farm, and having a tour guide helps when you are looking to learn more about topics that they are having the tour for. But if you just want to venture on your own, you can do that too. There are also tables set up at the entrance to learn about the local wildlife, plants and more...
