This is a great place to meet with family and friends, or to read a book or explore. The gardens are beautiful, and it is always great to see the wild life. This is like an oasis in the city. During this time of social distancing, we need parks like this that allow us to come together while staying apart. I am very thankful for the women and men who care for this facility.
The gardens are well maintained and the animals are taken care of too. Bring the family or someone special to enjoy this Richmond jewel. Be mindful, not all trails are paved so you're going to have trouble if your wheels/feet aren't off road and you want explore the grounds fully.
Clean, green and very well maintained. Italian garden, Japanese garden, Nature center and wild life experience makes the visit here filled with fun for all age groups. Mansion is great. Kids would love exploring nature up and close here. Not sure if there is a bicycle path here.
Lots of space to run around, beautiful gardens and historic house, and of course lots of animals to see. They have a whole petting zoo farm area AND a zoo area with local wildlife. They have eastern bison, a black bear, deer, and birds. Great place to take kids or go for a nice walk. I definitely haven't seen the whole place its full of secret areas.
One of the best free attractions in Richmond. Great place for a picnic or to walk around and see the Japanese garden. I love feeding the goats and sheep (remember to bring quarters). We had our daughters 1 year birthday party in the Stone Barn and it was awesome, they had horse and carriage rides for the kids. One of our go-to stops if the weather is nice.
