(June 9, 2022, 10:52 am)Had a picnic, was lots of fun. Lots of picnic tables and the kids lived swinging and sliding at the playground.
(May 10, 2022, 4:47 pm)I like taking the kids here because it's convenient, small and has plenty of room to run. I don't particularly care for the parking or bathroom situation, but many parks have the same issues.
(November 5, 2019, 11:38 pm)It's a great little park for my kids, the basket ball court is really nice too. I just wish they would keep the bathrooms open all year round. My 3 year old isn't in a diaper but he also can't hold it forever, so of he needs to use the restroom our day at the park is over and we have to go home. It's right next to the police department too which I think keeps the trouble makers away.
(September 29, 2019, 9:05 pm)Stopped in at this park. Was the best in all of the area. Super clean, not crowded, lots of toys and fields, Ive never seen a cleaner park. Theres also security cameras because (drum roll please) it's literally connected to the poloce station! Which is great!
(December 28, 2017, 12:05 am)Great little park that is very safe since it is located less than one block from the Algona police station. Facilities have always been clean and I have never seen any wild groups of people there. Limited parking, so take this into consideration if you are expecting a large crowd on a particular day.

The park was later named the John Matchett Memorial Park in his honor. He retired from public office in 1981 because of ill health. In 1987 Keith Phillips, a truck driver and novice stonecarver, volunteered his time and skill to create a stone monument to Mayor Matchett, who was also a longtime Algona Council member. ...
