This is a great entrance to the 9.5 mile Lake Youngs trail. There is parking for a couple dozen vehicles and restroom facilities. The trail itself is gravel, wide and well groomed with pleasant scenery surrounding it.

I biked around Lake Youngs on the trail, so this review relates to the trail's bikeability. The trail is not bad as a 9.5 mile urban loop trail for nearby residents to exercise and walk their dogs. It has hard-packed gravel in most places, except after a rain. With a recent rain, expect some mushy places and water rivulets. The trail cleanly circumnavigates the lake, but it's not always a wide, hard-packed trail. At times the wide trail narrows to a tiny dirt path (mostly on the east side). If you stay alongside the fence rather than veering onto the road, you will not get turned around. But if you go onto the road and veer away from the fence too far, it's easy to get mixed up on the roads. It's frustrating that you can't even see Lake Young (though I did see a coyote and a deer), but you do feel close to nature here. There's not much space to pass people coming the other way when you're in a narrow part of the trail, but there aren't many cyclists here. In many places it's gravely and bumpy -- a hybrid bike is still okay, though. Some scenic farm-like yards and areas make the ride picturesque in places. It is somewhat fun to bounce around on the different types of terrain, and the loop makes for a more complete-feeling ride. There are some challenging hills and some mild changes in scenery. Not a bad training route.

Lots of parking most of the time, very nice trail for any distance out-and-back or a bit over 9 miles around.

Access to the Lake Youngs Trail that loops (approximately nine miles) around the fenced-off (Seattle city water reservoir) Lake Youngs area. The southern parts of the trail are the most scenic and remote as large portions of the east and (especially) west portions follow roadways. The trail is great for walking, bicycling, or running. Lots of ripe blackberries as of early August!

Beautiful scenery and cuts into interesting places, you can go to petrovisky park and many schools from there. Also leads to lake desire, really brings the whole area together and provides community. A great and safe trail to walk home on, never had any issues, and you can see bunnies and deer :) the only issue is that it is gravel, and can be muddy if its wet, so wear good shoes, NOT VANS, your feet will blister a ton if you wear bad shoes.
