What a great museum! We took our kids, 6 & 4 years old the other day. Pay attention to the hours because we went on Tues and that's the only day they're closed. But when we went back we had a nice time! There were a lot of interactive displays to keep the kids entertained! Their favorite was looking out the periscope and swinging through the doorway! I loved learning about the dolphins and sea lions too! We will definitely be returning!

Largest collection of torpedoes in the world (not all displayed I’m told). Displays various parts of torpedoes and what’s inside them. Covers life on the submarine. Video of mariners experiences. Discusses transition to accepting blacks, women, LGBT, etc. History of submarines and torpedoes and their importance during Cold War and where we are today. Role of dolphins and sea lions in tracking lost missiles. Etc etc etc. Excellent museum!

Amazing museum, made me feel just like a kid again. It is free yet I learned a lot about submarine warfare and underwater work. It is just way too cool, if I had a kid I would bring him here. They got torpedoes, mines, you can see the inside of a submarine, diver suits, underwater drones and a whole other stuff. We were greeted by real vets at the entrance, I was very glad to meet Carl, one of them. I am sure you will enjoy it here.

This is a definite “guy” place. Interesting exhibit of WWII and other undersea weapons including submarines, torpedoes, comm systems and charts of the oceans. One display of tectonic plates was most informative.

Figure on two hours for a cursory “walk through” we spent most of an afternoon there and didn’t see everything.

Well worth the trip. Many thanks to knowledgeable docents

This museum is a great place to visit if you have any interest in things submarine. The exhibits are fascinating and informative. Just the section on torpedoes is worth the visit. It will take you about 2 hours to see everything. And it's free to visit.
