Stonehouse Bed & Breakfast

Address: 156 High St, Harpers Ferry, WV 25425, USA

Lodging

“Stonehouse lives up to their 'no doilies' reputation. Run by a lovely couple, it is warm and inviting, and the living space and room we were in were very comfortable and nicely appointed. The owners are very knowledgeable about the area and gave us spot on suggestions for restaurants and watering holes. The breakfast was delicious and held us until dinner. We were lucky to be the only guests during a quiet government shutdown. We highly recommend this awesome getaway and look forward to visiting again!”

The younger employees at the inn were really cool and represented the history of the inn well. Mrs Karan is making improvements and will do well with the employees she has now. We will definitely be back Jed”

John Brown Wax Museum

Address: 168 High St, Harpers Ferry, WV 25425, USA

Museum

“We stopped at this museum as part of spending the day at Harpers Ferry...and I have to say it was one of the more thought provoking things we have done in awhile. How does one protest something you believe so strongly? The displays are a little dated (for $7, it’s still a great deal)...but the topic seems particularly relevant to today. Highly recommend a stop if you’re in town. You could probably spend plenty of time, but the 30-minute walk through was well worth it.”

Tenfold Fair Trade Collection

Address: 180 High St Suite 1A, Harpers Ferry, WV 25425, USA

“Hidden gem. It is a shame this place is hidden on the stairwells, it has such nice products that are unique from all the gift shops selling the same stuff, plus it has many nice things under $10, including a cute pouch my sister got, she also got a thick leather journal with cotton pages for under $30. They had some great looking rustic bags that my sister also fell in love with. Everything is fair trade to help 3rd world countries. Shop is nicely decorated and has really pretty branches hanging from the ceiling which the owner said came from her back and had varnished.”

Storer College Museum

Address: 1402 High St, Harpers Ferry, WV 25425, USA

Museum

“If you want to find out the history of education progress in the USA then you must visit this small museum. The exhibit is very informative about the foundation of the college that provided education regardless of race or sex. Unfortunately its demise resulted from another advance in education: Brown v Board of Eduction. Additionally at this museum is a short history of the Niagara Movement with some terrific photographs. Included is also info about the founding of the NAACP.”
