Wonderful small oak savanna. Good hiking or walking. Wildflower prairie on top of a small bluff. Very scenic. Birdwatching. Hunting. Quiet during the week day.
A great state natural area to do some hiking. One trail in and out, otherwise you can bushwhack
Very isolated. The only drawback is that it's open to snowmobiling in the winter. You also need to be alert that you are sharing the space with hunters so you need to be aware of your surroundings. It's mainly one big oak savanna, however, there are many other nice features as well including a quiet little stream that runs throughout the place. Very nice hiking. I actually feel like I get a good workout whenever I visit. It gets 4 stars because of the snowmobiles. In my opinion, they have no place ripping through quiet natural areas, maybe someday when they're all electric.
Nice scenic park. The trails are easy, some hills, but nothing challenging for most people. We came to escape the house for a hike. Short drive from Madison.
