Nice rooms, very roomy. Awesome rec-room! The maintenance staff is quick with any problems!
We are so grateful to have found Oak Park Place for my sister’s dementia care. There are many positives but the staff is their best asset!
Trained caregivers have skills to redirect my sister and to offer alternative times or activities.
They have had so much patience with my sister during her adjustment and with us as a family as we have been grieving her rapid onset illness.
During the Pandemic Oak Park staff have helped us with many virtual visits and also safe in-person visits. Medical appointments are also facilitated online.
We hesitated to bring her to a dementia care unit but now I wish we had done it sooner.
My sister used to stay in bed with no interests; and now, gratefully we can hardly find her in her room much of the day.
We have had the pleasure of helping families downsize and move residents into Oak Park Place over the years. We see first hand the quality of staff, cleanliness of the apartments and common spaces, willingness to help residents in a caring and compassionate manner, and we see that the residents adjust and settle in easily. It is great to see! Keep up the wonderful job you are doing!
Before the pandemic I had the pleasure of attending many functions at Oak Park Place. They invited many in the area to their monthly functions. It was always an informative and enjoyable afternoon. The gatherings were on a variety of subjects from the Stoughton Norwegian Dancers to a Chef making different foods for all to enjoy, a Frank Sinatra impersonator and other informative speakers. These afternoons were always done in good taste, decorations and light snacks. Especially fun to attend was their summer picnic along with excellent food and wonderful live bands. They had several stations set up for the children to enjoy such as face painting, balloon animals, etc.
Since the pandemic took over last Spring, Oak Park has been diligent in trying to keep up, virtually, with some of the past traditions. As we all can understand, this is a totally new concept and takes a lot of work and talent to try and come up with ideas to try and make this work. They did have a picnic last August with music and food and invited many to join in this endeavor. Also, in December, they had a snowflake coloring project which I enjoyed doing. The cutout snowflakes and coloring pens were sent to people interested and then put on a Christmas tree when returned.
Another recent project was making Energy Balls. The recipe and all ingredients were furnished. This project also was a simple and fun task and, best of all, the individuals who participated in this, got to keep and eat the Energy Balls. I must say they were easy to make, good to eat, but can’t really say they gave me any extra energy.
Anyhow, I most sincerely thank Oak Park and their staff for coming up with projects and inviting the outside neighbors to join in. It is truly an example of kindness and Good Will to those of us who are not residents.
My parents lived here for several years before they passed away. The staff were always so loving and kind to my folks and to me. My mom was in memory care and my dad was in skilled nursing. I was always so impressed with the lengths the staff went to to allow them to spend time together. And the people from the activities were wonderful. So inclusive and encouraging my parents to participate in various things. I feel so very grateful for the help and support my family got from the staff.
