Address: 5218 Lake Mendota Dr, Madison, WI 53705, USA
“Small boat landing tucked away on Lake Mendota Drive. It's directly across from the Spring Harbor Park restroom facilities. There's no major sign to help make it stand out and the main sign is tucked behind a batch of trees and shrubs. A permit is required to utilize the boat launch. The area overall is very small and is more suited to smaller water craft. Large conventional boats will struggle to get in and out of the water due to lack of space for manueverability.”

“A very clean campground. The restrooms and showers were super clean! Kind of on the lake within walking distance from a very nice boat ramp. The campground is next to a fairly busy highway but after a short time you don't even notice the noise. The host was very nice and helpful. I would highly recommend.”

“A short drive to explore nature... The park is just a few minutes drive from Verona and Madison. Plenty of parking, yet we never saw anyone else. Weekends may be a bit more crowded. Well maintained signs provide some local history along the trail. There is also a nice pavilion for a quick picnic lunch. Some interesting rocks to easily explore just off the main path as well.”
Address: 402 N High Point Rd, Madison, WI 53717, USA
“It's a nice little park along the side of the beltline near Old Sauk. Very flat, so not a destination for wintertime sledding. It could use a bathroom. But it has a nice playground and a large field with soccer goals. Also a covered pavilion for picnicking or birthday parties that you can reserve in advance. With little kids it can be fun to explore the plants and wildflowers that grow along the western edge of the park right up against the beltline wall. Plenty of street parking along High Point. Never crowded.”

“Tried the trail for the first time. Enjoyed it thoroughly. Only about 6 miles full round trip, but the scenery was worth it. Mostly wooded with a few water features including three bridges to cross. Did not explore the mountain bike paths, so can't say anything about them. For a quick enjoyable outing this was well worth the trip.”

“Amazing wetland preserve right in Madison! Great place for hiking and wildlife viewing! Description - from DNR website. Cherokee Marsh is part of an extensive wetland complex of more than 2,000 acres. The north portion has been classified as a fen although it contains species characteristic of low prairies, shrub-carr, bogs, and sedge meadows. Southward are areas of shrubby meadow where about half of the cover is bog birch, willows, and dogwood. Most of the southern portion has been ditched. In several areas dried by the ditching, the community composition is more like wet prairie. Some areas along the southwest and southeast borders are quite disturbed with canary grass or nettles dominating. The hydrology of the area is complex as evidenced by the changing community structure on level topography. The site is used by many species of mammals and birds. Management activities include brushing, burning, and reestablishing normal hydrological systems. Cherokee Marsh is owned jointly by the City of Madison and the DNR and was designated a State Natural Area in 1976.”

“This is one of my favorite dog parks to go to mostly because if it’s convenient location. The area is spacious and very visually appealing with lots of tall prairie grass surrounded by big trees. There is about a half mile walking loop which can be nice when you want to walk slowly and talk with friends. There is also a shade shelter with a number of picnic tables underneath it. Heads up to those with mobility aids: this park has the main area located a short walk away from the entrance and if you are not able to walk travel the quarter-mile over rough lime stone screenings, you may find this park difficult to enjoy.”

“Combination area of a hunting area, historical site, hiking trails, and county parks. It’s a nice variety of Prairie and wooded area with a lot to offer for the outdoors type. The abandoned homestead is an interesting point to visit, and there is a bit of history to read on public placards. Limited gravel parking, paved parking in the county park.”
