“Fantastic tour!! I booked this mostly for my husband’s sake but we both thoroughly enjoyed it! Our tour involved only one other couple so we were small enough to all be able to fit in the rooms and look closely at items in the house. Our tour guide Ida Ellen was AMAZING!! She knew so much but was also very friendly and approachable. We asked lots of questions which she was able to answer, and it was fascinating to hear about the other types of tours done at the house. The house itself has been home to several families but one main one, through an intriguing period of history - during the time home electricity became available, before indoor plumbing was normal, and when all work was still done manually albeit frequently with the help of specific tools. Honestly I would do the tour again, and I’d be interested to do the other tours available sometime also. There were also some spots on the grounds we were able to explore before and after at our own pace. We were encouraged to take pictures or videos and there is a charming gift shop I recommend stopping by before leaving. There’s even a free little library with a unique feature on the corner of the lawn. I do recommend buying tickets in advance even though you don’t need to. Someone came in the middle of our tour and wanted one, but they had to wait. There is also a self-guided tour option but only when they aren’t running the guided tours. Technically the self guided are free but they recommend a donation to keep their historical work active.”

“Nice staff. Great place to learn about the history of the people of New Glaris area and their struggles in a new country. Pretty cool. Handicapped parking, building access and rest rooms. Plenty to see as you walk about. Took about and hour and a bit more. Very clean and well kept. Fee was 10 per adult. I think children are cheaper.”

I love that the cost of the show was included with your ticket. Learn about the history of the circus and then get to see it come to life. Definitely recommend coming here if you're in the area!”

“Interesting and enjoyable local pioneer museum. Many log buildings, plus the usual school house and smithy. Two modern pole buildings have been turned into museums housing a wide variety of local artifacts, from Indian tools to the mid-Twentieth Century. I love how many things there are here and the slightly amateur way it's all displayed. I hope nobody comes along and modernises this wonderful collection!”

“Every small town should have a museum like this showcasing its history. Unfortunately I forget his name but the guy who was giving me the tour was quite knowledgeable. I came into town for a few hours to kill some time while waiting for a family member to have a surgery procedure done at a hospital nearby. Came into town not knowing much about it but because of this museum I left being somewhat of an expert. Being an avid railfan I can say with all certainty that any rail fan will enjoy this spot. I would have to make one recommendation and that would be too remove those pine trees that are behind the place and in their place put a train watching area with like a park grill or something. If you were to do this, you would bring in rail fans (and their money) from all over the place. There is a really nice view of Slinger Junction of course but there's something really picturesque about trains coming southbound going around that corner.”

“What a fantastic place. We spent over 6 hours here today. The crowds are light when you arrive when they open at 9 am. There are excellent displays, restored buildings, a significant history of the Circus and even Elephant and carousel rides. Bring food or have a hot lunch with pretty low prices. “The museum is great had lots of photos of the original badger ordinance plant from world war I until it closed in the late 80s and it had a lot of the pre-war pictures of the females working there in the munitions plant my parents actually worked here in the seventies and as a child I stayed across in the village Park and this one baby status there and then to bring a bus and take us over to the building and we have lunch with her parents and then they take us back over the daycare. There's a lot of great history here and pictures of plat maps memorabilia badges uniforms and the different types of ammunition the gentleman that's kind of overseas the museum is very knowledgeable and likes talking to you about the history. Donations are welcome. The museum is open year round. More information on the badger ammunition plant can also be found at the Wisconsin historical society”
